....I wonder how that happened. Oh well, I'll fix it in a bit.

Well if Steelbellman/Koubellman/that guy with the weird head had any importance, we probably would have had a good nickname for him by now.

While I'm at it, I went through so much Kinnikuman translating today I literally ran out of material (since I haven't sent myself vol. 4 to my translating place since I thought these chapters were going to be longer...but wrestling chapters are just that short). And here we go:

Chp. 38: What's cooler than being cool? ICE COLD: http://mangahelpers....ead.php?t=39761

Chp. 39: Meat really shouldn't be seeing "those things" at his age: http://mangahelpers....ead.php?t=39764

Chp. 40: EEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVIIIIIIIILLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!: http://mangahelpers....ead.php?t=39769

Chp. 41: Of course when you do it to Kinnikuman it's one thing, but when you do it to Robin Mask...it's another: http://mangahelpers....ead.php?t=39772

Anyhow, fixed link to 32.

It'll be clear... about December... when I don't have internet access. College ain't easy right now.

Don't really worry about keeping up his pace, though-- Remember, the community was very happy when Toriyamaworld sent out two a month-- I think the most we ever got in a month was four, apart from the first time it was posted. I didn't get them when it first popped up, so I don't remember how many were avaible at first. I'm happy to turn over the editing to you-- and Knuxie is excellent on the sfx!

I'll let Roots Island be my last ones for a while. I don't know when I'll be able to get them up, though.

Well, I appreciate what you've done so far, anyway. (although it's more work for me, it probably would have been a bit problematic to co-ordinate the later chapters because we work at different speeds, and the story-heavy chapters need to be released in order)

Anyhow, spending 10-15 hours a day editing these things is the least I can do, considering that Ataru has finally started providing translations. You have no idea how hard I've searched for a translator during the past few years. (Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I've run into Stranger on Gamefaqs a few times during my shameless attempts to raise interest in the series) The way I see it, the faster the scans get edited, the sooner they'll eventually find their way to somewhere where people can discover it.

Although this is mostly out of spite for people who think Dragonball was the series that invented most of the modern cliches of the genre...

I've actually never been on Gamefaqs...well I've never posted on the boards but I have read some of the boards before with a lot of stupidity that goes on there. I've been here and there though: my main hangout is Arlong Park Forums (I'm a huge One Piece fan) but I've also been at Mangahelper (mostly talking in the Jump thread but that's also where I started doing Bo-bobo) and a few other places here and there throughout my web career. (bit of time on Pokemon boards when they were big, a little bit on a Digimon board, some Toonami boards including Toonzone...and some other places which really don't have to do with anime/manga so I won't get into those, including my DeviantArt page). I guess what brought me to start the project was multi-fold though

-I needed something to get me through my period of slower Bo-bobo translations (five more chapters and then full steam ahead again!)
-I'm a bit of a Jump otaku loving to look up bits and pieces of its history and felt that this series didn't have as much out there in the US compared to more popular or well known series. (heck who knows what would have happened if the anime or manga came out in the US with the M.U.S.C.L.E toys!)
-I've been interested in Kinnikuman for a while now (my old recollections of watching the "Ultimate Muscle" dub to a point, watching footage from Youtube of a pixilated version of many of the big fights...not to mention the many, many times Bo-bobo has referenced this series...)
-I saw the thread here (after poking in and out a bit) with all the raws of every single Kinnikuman volume, making me feel like I sort of needed to get this series out there in the English-speaking world.

Probably some others but that's generally the story. I am sort of warning you that once the Bo-bobo project goes full steam again, this will be back on the backburner...I may still get some chapters out here or there but I can't guarantee the rapid translations I've been doing lately...heck I'm even shocked at some of the rate this is getting done.

Oh, Toon Zoone. That must be where I remembered seeing your name. That's been bugging me like heck the last few days...

Don't worry about going back to Bobobo. (I assume that series takes a lot of effort to translate, considering every other line is a pun) You've given us as a good 4 months worth of translations in a week. That's a heck of a lot better than what we're used to. (hell, that's a heck of a lot better than any manga translation I've ever seen) Hopefully your effort will be worthwhile in the end.

I think I can handle it, for the most part. You mentioned throwing together a webpage that collects the MU links, right? How's that going? (mainly because Baka-updates has a lot of red tape, and they require a homepage for a group to be considered official) Getting them up there is the first step to getting the series out there.

Also, don't expect much from me tonight. Chapter 33 is really boring.

Isn't that the volume that TW said was "boring" and thus wouldn't be translated?

:)

I enjoyed the preliminaries, but nothing really happens in 33. It's 11 pages of random celebrity cameos, the match-ups being announced, and... well, that's about it. I'm having a hard time getting through it.

33 is mostly just filler but it had some good moments for me: Meat discovering the articles at the end and the scene where we get a bit of color commentary about the A-Block fights. (B-Block was probably being kept a surprise due to how brutal those three were) The celebs were a bit much but in a way it fit with the first year of the series being more "Urusei Yatsura meets superheroes and wrestling".

It's up to you. I only have 2 requests (and they're both very minor):

1. If you mention my name anywhere, I've been crediting myself as "Tash" in the chapters.

2. I'm strongly bothered by skipped numbers. If you're listing chapters, use some sort of placeholder for the ones TW did. (don't just list the chapters as 20, 21, 23, 25, put something where 22 and 24 should be) Maybe that's just OCD talking, but the way volume 2 is listed here bugs me every time I see it. Don't repeat their mistake. >_<

Otherwise, make it look any way you want. I'm not good with those kind of things.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot:

Chapter 33: At least it's not another Saddam Hussein guest spot...

Alright. Here's a real basic layout for now until I can spiff it up, but I've got all the available downloads uploaded onto mediafire. If anyone has trouble downloading from there, lemme know.

I wasn't sure if you guys wanted your emails listed. I was thinking of making a contact/bio page possibly in the future.. but what'cha guys think so far? I even made sure to list chapters we didn't do so you won't be driven crazy, Stecase. XD

You did good. (feel free to remove my version of 21, though. It was my first project, I didn't save the .phs, and I used the names from the forums in the credits. I think it's better off that we just use Orgg's version)

Btw, my current E-mail is "LordTash@sbcglobal.net". I don't use it often, but you may want to list it just incase. You may also want to list what each member does, in case somebody just wants to contact the translator or something.

Our group is awaiting approval at Baka-updates. After that, it's just a short step to requesting Kinnikuman on OneManga. (which will be the easiest place for it gain popularity)

EDIT: In the mean time, here's Kinnikuman 34!

Chapter 34: ...wow.

http://www.megalopuad.coc/?d=SPDPB258

This chapter was really something else. Aside from the obvious bloodbath, you've also got a Nazi with a gas chamber attack. (he got the series banned in most of Europe) You've also got Canadianman, one of only two Canadian Chojin in the series. (the other one actually gets defeated faster, believe it or not)

Knuxie, once you get the link posted on the site, could you drop a release update over at Baka-updates? (put in the site's URL when it asks for a "download link", instead of a direct link to the download)

I was wondering why Meat went all the way to planet Kinniku to read about Earth chojin...

I wouldn't call any of the translations you've provided "garbled". Sure, occasionally there's a mix-up like that (and there were a few instances where you mistook the guards for Brockenman :)), but by large they're very easy to understand.

Which reminds me of something random I was going to point out about 33: Even though Meat spends 3 panels ranting about how Kinnikuman got Lucky number 7, the tournament chart shows him all the way in the far-left bracket. (where the number 8 contestant should be) I put Kinnikuman back where he should be, but it's still funny that Yude can overlook something like that.

I just can't bring myself to work on it tonight.

This topic is too quiet.

Chapter 35: From the way they were talking about him, I assumed Skyman would actually fly around like Pentagon, and not just jump good.

Chapter 36: Did you know that Masashi Kishimoto's (author of Naruto) favorite Chojin as a kid was Curry Cook?

http://www.megalopuad.coc/?d=D0SAR61F

EDIT: Good news, everybody! I dropped a series request for Kinnikuman at OneManga. It turns out that the series has quite a following there, but the fact that the translation was dropped was preventing them from uploading it. Feel free to come and show some support.

Just don't mention the whole "translator busy with Bobobo" thing... ^^

It's a site people generally look at to tell which manga have been translated. I'll take care of it.

EDIT: Whoops, almost forgot to upload 37 tonight.

Chapter 37: A pretty unremarkable chapter.

http://www.megalopuad.coc/?d=RAL10527

You know, even after all these years, I never knew that Ramenman's personality was "good guy who tends to take things too far". I wonder how that detail managed to elude me. I guess that does explain why sparing Brocken jr. was such a big deal...

I also apologize in advance for the title page of 38. There's no way to erase the Japanese title without erasing Robin Mask, so I'll have to put the title below the Japanese text. >_<

Still gotta remember to go back and fix the Planet Gold error, too.

I actually would kinda prefer leaving the giant Japanese titles, honestly.

And Roots Island .txt / link to two other chapters that were actually edited are being sent to Knuxie quite soon-- she can do what she wants with the pictures, and get Roots Island started. I think any 'oddball' chapters that don't have storyline would be fine for me to text up like Roots Island... but we'll ask Knuxie on that one. :)

Also, I wouldn't change the TeamKinniku thing except for actually linking to the TW page in the struck through text-- but make sure the link color is black if you know how to do that. And put the cover image for Issue 1 up as well.

Also, been too buisy to read the Volume 3 things yet, but is Knuxie doing the SFX for yours, S--Tash?

I've been speed-releasing them, so I've been uploading them as soon as I finish them instead of waiting for the SFX to get done. By the time I discovered it was being translated, he was already several chapters ahead, and I didn't want them to keep piling up.

Well, like I mentioned, I think Ataru's started translating Bobobo again, so the translations won't be coming nearly as often (shame he didn't finish the last four chapters of this arc, though). Since I'm not a regular here most of the time, I'll leave you guys in charge of editing anything he releases.

So you don't mind her putting in the sfx for your's as well?

If he's doing like one or two every couple of months, I can take care of it.

Any more, and they will interfere with college-- something I can't afford. If Roots Island works out really well, I may just be the 'retranslator,' and let Knuxie take care of the rest.

I'm going to bring the .zip files for the last two chapters of 9 and let Knuxie upload them. There's no download link for them at TW. There can be a note on the link to their download site that they are mirrors for TW since they never updated their webpage for number nine.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.

And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.
