Thanks for the boost guys  I had intended to continue, but the micro action figure contest took up a lot of my time for about 2 months. Then, I got sidetracked by the bionicle pack madness and some musclevations in progress. I was in the early stages of another muscle/gpk pic before that, and its been hard to get remotivated to take on the task. Your support has been a great motivation to jump start, but that pic is gonna take some time. For that reason, I'm doing something on this thread that I've never done: I'm skipping over it for now, so I can post the 15+ pics that were done at conventions since I'd started it.

Here's the first of the new wave of pics, w/color added just today. the colors are a kind of kudos to soupie, because the four colors represented here are the same four the figure is known to exist in...

Good work as always buddy! Maybe you'd consider submitting a couple of your favorites to my fan art section I'm building? Do you have a gallery with all of your creations catalogued somewhere? Anyway, keep up the good work!
Cheers,

Just tell me what kinda stuff ya want darrin, and you got it! Thanks URS, the negative space needed some action to compliment the charachter, and I liked the way the monotone worked in the picture.

Here's an interesting one from the indy section: meat drawn as an egg. The artist has this thing where all his charachters are made to look like food, and meat was the most egg-shaped figure I had with me. no background treatment on this one, and all the color was done by the artist.

This is one from stumblebum studios, the same place Kevin Steel works (be patient, I'm working on something special for the most recent KS art) and Dave Sherrill is pretty good in his own right. A full figure sketch, with all artist-coloring included.

http://www.stumblebu...eele-splash.htm

The most recent Kevin Steele is finally ready! This was at the local comicon, at the stumblebum studios booth (where oilman was done), and my jaw nearly dropped when I saw that Kevin's price had jumped up to 20 bucks per sketch! But he's always done great work, and I had some great selections with me, so set the book down and he picked a great subject. It's a beautiful sketch of Gohriki, completely ignoring the musculature and focusing almost entirely on the face and hair. This sketch is different than all the other professional artist peices in the book, in that the space and design of the picture really seem to be important.

For a long time, I've wanted to do a color muscle peice in the poster-print style of Andy Warhol, with bright colors in places they don't belong but somehow work well, and repeats of the same image under different cplacement of colors from the same pallet. Kevin's Gohriki was perfect, and I think my two weeks worth of color work to use the 5 known Gohriki colors paid off. From a design standpoint, this is my new favorite.

Anyone who likes Kevin's stuff here should do a search for stumblebum studios. He's got a great gallery there.

I've still got seperate saves for each of the four panels. Of all the pics I've posted so far, the gohriki peices come the closest to my original vision; color and space, unique personality apart from the manga/anime, and something that doesn't look like fan art, just art.

For the four-panel, I had intended to have each of the five colors only used three times. And I thought that was possible since there were only four fields per panel. It turned out that the (5 colors X 3 uses each = 15)<(4 panels X 4 fields = 16) meant that green had to be used 4 times instead of three. Took me two days to figure out math beats art ^_^

Here's another from the Stumblebum table. Claw has been done once already, but had to share the page with new Black Hole, so here's another in eye-popping neon.

I've also started re-scanning and color-fixing the original posts, to the quality standards I'm currently using. Starting on pasge one, they're getting facelifts, and a documented view count from before. Everyone please let me know what ya think.

usually in the color editing, I'm very thourough with photoshop eraser and paint can tools, but on the claw, slimiy was exactly what i was shooting for, by using the neon green fill over the original forest green markers. Not shooting for a solid green background left the unusual outline, which I kinda like.

Stumblebum had pretty much their whole art staff there, and I got a sketch from all of them. Here's another one, with charachter coloring by the artist.

I like the color choices for this one, not too crazy about the background though.

Exactly how much money have you invested in this project? With all the artists drawings, and materials and stuff, it would seem like a nice chunk of change!

For pro sketches, I'd imagine between 175.00 and 225.00, and the art supplies about 60 in sharpies and other markers. The project is still worth the time and money to me, so I guess value is relative to the enjoyment per peice. Examples: the Kevin Steel Gohriki was worth the 20 bucks and several days of coloring work, but this free pic from one of the writers ( won't say which studio) wasn't worth the page it used up in my book.

I'd say that's a pretty descent price for this project! A great Hobby usually calls for a nice investment anyways. I for one always look forward to new pics.

Here is the last of the Stumblebum sketches from the comicon (there was another small comic tent show @ a place called Zues comics the following weekend, and stumblebum was there..) and I think this guy was a writer, but he can draw pretty darn good. Great talent pool at that studio, especially KS.

This pic is colored and backgrounded all digitally, and the original will be colored to match later on. #5, planetman!
