Uhm, erh, wha, uh... Wait, what? How the hell did Robin Mask escape from the pillar?

The next chapter will explain it...it does make sense...but it doesn't. (can't put it up tonight: today's been crummy and I spent it instead watching "The Nightmare Before Christmas" to unwind...besides, the good news is the Zebra fight has finished being translated but I don't know if I'll be starting the next match next week or after New Year's)

I'm guessing it's something stupid like "He exploded the methan gas with the Analou staff!"

Awesome, Stecase.

Also, I never quite get the whole YUUJOU PAWAA thing. Kinnikuman generally wins through some combination of luck, figuring out something about the opponent, stamina, and stubbornness. In the tag team matches, teamwork is central, but it's not like we see Terryman and Kinnikuman sparkling with YUUJOU PAWAA, they just talk about it all the time.

Edit: Funny, did you notice that they retconned how Warsman killed Pentagon into the anime variety? In the manga, IIRC, he slices him from groin to scalp, while in the anime he just stabs his forehead, as shown in the chapter 301 flashback.

"Sorry, we don't take calluses here. Only cash blisters."

So the next match is what? Buffaloman vs. Mammothman? Brocken Jr. vs. Prisman?

Brocken's fight, then Buffaloman, then Soldier. (There's a short part in there when Mammothman and Phoenix team up against Soldier, too)

Former resident song translator, and as a result, probably the distant, insignificant relative of the translation family on this board.

Update (7/1/2012 [7th Jan]) - Years away can calm a mind down quite well. I don't think of myself as some maligned martyr of the site. Rather it's just that I was unfortunately caught by the mudslinging of a rather unpleasant (and unprofessional) translator, who didn't like people taking the spotlight away from him, particularly if they happened to actually be able to properly translate work, as opposed to him. Nevertheless, despite the fact that all my work was my own, I got constantly accused of plagiarism, thanks to this unpleasant individual constantly saying how I stole his work. (When rather, it was going to end up being the other way round.)

I'm a lot more forgiving about the whole ideal, with how I ended up getting treated on this forum, as a result of this incident, but at the same time, I am still not in any mind to come back and join in again, nor will I uplaod any more of my translation work on here. This includes any of my old work, or my newer and much more accurate work. Some may see this as being petty, spiteful or based off an old grudge, and you may be right. However, I thought I'd explain things a little.

I've tried to avoid discussing personal matters on this board, since it's not something I feel that other people should concern themselves with, but I feel that I need to explain what's going on.

When I first started working on Kinnikuman, my situation was a lot different. Sometime earlier this year, I had to essentially drop everything and move in with my grandmother to take care of her (I was raised by my grandparents, since my parents never really gave a damn). Since I suddenly had a LOT of time on my hands, I decided to dedicate as much of it as I could to getting Kinnikuman finished very quickly. I took it upon myself to make 100% sure that someone actually worked on Kinnikuman at a decent pace, so that the only attempt to translate it in the last several years didn't end up falling through, and I must confess I'm impressed how I did and I wonder how close that I came.

To make a long story short, this and that happened at home, and I'm now moving out of state for various reasons. Since I'm not made of freetime anymore, continuing Kinnikuman really isn't an option.

I really did want to finish, and I regret having to drop the project when I was only a few volumes away from the end. Even though I still don't consider myself a member of this board, I've actually come to like you people in the last year. Maybe I'll still pop in from time to time to see how things are going. I can only hope that someone will finish up those last few volumes (and I kind of hope they try to keep it somewhat consistent with the ones I did). With that said, 2010's going to be a good year for Kinnikuman. Maybe this will even be the year that the Ultimate Muscle dub finally finds its way to the internet, if we're lucky.

That said, good luck to everyone who's still working on Kinnikuman, and whoever starts the editing in my place.

Well, I don't have a lot of experience in editing, but I am a rather resourceful man. If no one with more experience is willing or has the time to edit in the text, I suppose I could give it a shot. I have a fair amount of time on my hands.

It's a shame that Tash had to stop, I was really hoping to see him and Ataru finish the series.

I've been a ghost on here for a while, but I'd like to go ahead and re-offer my services if needed/wanted. I'm an experianced typsetter, and would love to help get this job wrapped up. I also have copies of the raws, so that would help.

The only real issue would be that I wouldn't be able to post up any new chapters until the end of January at the earliest. Sadly I still have a few jobs that are keeping me busy at the moment. Once I have them done I'd be able to pick up with regular gusto.

Anyway, just thought I'd offer to help.

Thank you for continuing to keep the thread on topic.

Tash, as the person who sort of kick-started this ridiculous project in the rear when all skeptics thought Kinnikuman would never be fully available even in fan circles in the US, I sort of want to thank you for everything you did in making this project work as long as it did. All I did was have the stupid idea of picking up a series where it's biggest fan seemed to only want to do the part of the series that was good (in the long run he was sort of right...though I love a lot of the early series and the Gold Mask arc does have some of the best moments of the series), but if was you and your patience and devotion to Kinnikuman that turned my words into something more than I ever had the chance to realize. You made them come alive by scanslating them and presenting them to the English speaking world, making adjustments as needed to my stupid scripts and doing what you had to in order for consistancy (and slight controversy) to emerge among all of us. You were the glue of Team Kinniku...and while somehow I will be finishing the series, we won't be the same without you. Good luck and may things go better wherever you may go.

Ataru

BTW: As an aside, I sort of hope to get back to the Throne once the New Year's Break is over, I just wanted to take a bit of time and do stuff like Otokojuku for a bit and hold off until 2010 (which...well, it is now) before starting the home stretch of the series. Hopefully by next week we will start seeing scripts for the Soldier/Phoenix fight...but that's all they'll be until we get something new together. (if we do at all)

Reposting my message to Tash. I'm gonna miss you and I'm forever grateful for the work you've done. There's no way I'd have the patience to do what you did. You're a tank. XD

I hope with the new year that everything works out for you and your grandmother. And know you're always welcome back here with open arms. Take care, man.

On to the topic of Team Kinniku, as annoying as some of the drama can be, I'll be sticking around to upload chapters and what not. So if we get a new text setter, if you can email me the done chapters, (I have no idea how much space my yahoo or hotmail accounts have.. fff.) I'll update the site. I'm hoping the "politics" will die down this year. We might not be the best "team" but teams don't always work together on everything. Just be happy we get the work done for all you fans to read. Translating and typesetting isn't easy, you know.

Just figured I'd pop in with an update - I should have a little free time in a week or so, and intend to have a chapter edited up and posted around that time. I hope I'm not stepping on anybody's toes, but I just wanted to state my intentions. I'll let this first chapter serve as a test/sample, and you guys can let me know if you want me to continue.

Typesetters? The guys that make unreadable karaoke on my anime intros?!

Heh. No, not one of them. :) I guess I should've said I have experiance with lettering?

Oh! Before I forget, the next chapter needed is "310" right? I don't want to skip a chapter or anything...

I think the last chapter that Tash did was the one where Ramenman breaks Motorman so it probably is going to be the first chapter of Ramenman/Bikeman. (AKA: Ramenman Beyond Thunderdome)
