Just figured I'd pop in with an update - I should have a little free time in a week or so, and intend to have a chapter edited up and posted around that time. I hope I'm not stepping on anybody's toes, but I just wanted to state my intentions. I'll let this first chapter serve as a test/sample, and you guys can let me know if you want me to continue.

Typesetters? The guys that make unreadable karaoke on my anime intros?!

Heh. No, not one of them. ;) I guess I should've said I have experiance with lettering?

Oh! Before I forget, the next chapter needed is "310" right? I don't want to skip a chapter or anything...

I think the last chapter that Tash did was the one where Ramenman breaks Motorman so it probably is going to be the first chapter of Ramenman/Bikeman. (AKA: Ramenman Beyond Thunderdome)

Don't forget to correct Ataru's incorrect spelling of "möbius". Or Moebius, if you're an umlaut fascist.

So "Phoenix" is a pun on the pronounciation of the intelligence kanji (fenikusu?)? Are any of the other team names puns?

And I love the pretty little swastika on Brocken's arm.

It's not a pun: the teams for the Fated Princes use the kanji for their respective gods, but are read as if it is based on the Kinnikuman clone that leads them. The kanji for Team Phoenix is the kanji for "Intelligence", but it is supposed to be read as "Team Phoenix". It makes more sense in Japanese where you can see both at the same time, both kanji and reading, than it does in English where you have to essentially go with the reading.

Essentially: the kanji is the God, the furigana is the Kinnikuman, but the reading is for the most part the furigana. (aside from weird moments like Phoenix saying "that's why we're called this" and referring to the "Intelligence" part though saying it as "Team Phoenix")

And meanwhile I keep wondering what sort of parallel universe it is considering that the Nazis are still the army of Germany even though it's now 1986. (I mean sure, you could make a claim for a "cult of Germans who still believe in the Nazis" before, but now...well, now I really, really wish Goleman was on Team Phoenix instead of Team Big Body just so we could open the door on whether or not this is racist/disturbing to have him fight Brocken Jr.) At least they seemed to have fallen by Nisei...considering that Brocken goes on hard times and his successor wears a stupid bicycle helmet.

I think the Nazi imagery comes from bias on part of the writers and the fact that everything is funnier with nazis in it.

HEIL BROCKEN (eins) HEIL BROCKEN (zwei) HEIL BROCKEN (drei) HEIL BROCKEN (vier) HEIL BROCKEN (fünf)

They should totally have made a Jew Man who fights his enemies out of greed and steals their money.

Also, Buffaloman is seriously annoying me. Without his Longhorns, he's pretty much just... A bigger and stronger Terryman? He doesn't really have a lot of other gimmicks, does he? I mean, Brocken has his weird pseudokarate, Ramenman has his brutality and Kung Fu, Robin Mask has his armor and technique, but Buffaloman without his horns? What is he, really? His senman power or whatever isn't really too special anymore.

Only in 1980s Japan would they do this. Nowadays, not so much.

We got a Chojin Otaku/Gary Stu in the latest Nisei arc, so it's a win/lose situation.

Brocken would've finished him with these words:

"Greed... Is wrong..."

*Zoom in to raging face*

"TAKING OUT INTEREST IS AGAINST THE WORD OF JESUS!"

I don't see what the problem here is. Almost all of Buffaloman's moves require the use of his horns, so it's obvious he's not as useful/powerful when he doesn't have them on. It's like if you take away Warsman's bear claws, he wouldn't be nearly as dangerous.

Unless Warsman starts deciding to randomly throw them again. Sadly, with certain plot points claiming "Buffaloman's 10 Million Power" is tied to his Long Horns in the latest chapters(though they change the source of the 10 Million Power all the time), he's just like a living meat-sack with his original power (prior to making that deal with Satan) without them. (well there is also the whole "he's dead without them...but the less we mention anything by Dr. Bombe, the better")

Oh, I did finish vol. 29, but didn't get the scripts up last night due to other pressing matters I had to handle. But aside from all the insanity I'm probably going to talk about regarding how Nazi Germany still exists in this universe (then again, so does the Incan Empire), I may also throw a few bones regarding how stupid broadcasters allowed for one of the biggest revelations of the arc...to be telegraphed way earlier than it could have been.

I wouldn't say the translation superman -> übermensch is entirely accurate; übermenschen literally means over-human (that is, a human above all humans; Nietzsche coined this referring to people who rejected the humble Christian morals, it was later misinterpreted by eugenics as a new human race which would arise once the slavs, jews, cripples etc had been eradicated). "Super" is derived from the latin "supra" which does indeed mean "above"; However, the English word Super rarely means above (usually only in words like "superimposed) but more often in words such as Superman "amazing", "better than anything else", etc. I wouldn't neccesarily say that übermensch carries the same connotations; In fact, I doubt it.

This is totally on-topic.

EDIT: Apparently, "superman" was a common translation of übermensch, I was unaware of this fact. My point still stands, however, as the Chojin of Kinnikuman are "supermen" as in "superheroes", which is a different thing entirely.

Most of my "Choujin = Uebermensch" rant was in jest, due to the whole bizarre concept that many accounts of Nazi fiction have them obsessing in creating "a race of supermen"...and guess what Choujin are (let alone the Brocken family)

I'm aware. In fact, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have argued about it otherwise.

Well it does show one thing in particular: groups are still willing to do Kinnikuman and the series will finish, whether if it's Team Kinniku or not.

I also don't mean to prod, but Knuxiechan - Are you gonna post the last volume that Tash did on the TK homepage soon? (I only ask because I've been downloading the Volume releases, and I kinda like my files to be consistant.)
