I raise all your good points to one Mari Nikaidou.

The Nisei anime did something right and have her in only two episodes. Toei gets respect for that.

Yeah, the first Kinnikuman anime was pretty bad, which is unfortunate for such a classic series.

Poor animation - Check
Poor artwork - Check
Constant interruptions in fights - Check
Putting comedy in serious scenes - Check
Removing important scenes from the manga - Check

I'll forgive the toned down violence of the anime considering its morning time slot, but the rest is inexcusable. Look at how good the original Dragon Ball and Fist of the North Star series were. Both came out in the 80's and they're still watchable by today's standards; so age is not an excuse here.

Hell, Combattler V was made in 1975 and still has excellent animation (obligatory clip: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Depu6SFuFtg.

Or for a more comparable example, take Chojuu Kishin Dancougar. It was made in 1983, and is somewhat infamous for its awkward face animation. However, despite the somewhat low animation budget, they actually focused the steam on the combat, making a lot of the combat scenes very well-animated.

I don't mind a bit more comedy or amusement moments in Kinnikuman mostly due to...well, it's a comedy series at heart. Heck, I think the anime did the right thing keeping the announcers as on-screen, particularly since they seem to do a better job explaining things (like the "Omega Catastrophe Drop" scene: I was so used to the Muscle Fight scene with the announcers explaining "catastrophe" and how amusing it was that it felt dissapointing that Robin explained it in the manga and it felt almost like a throw-away moment) or giving slight diversion between stressful moments than just this "offscreen menace" that we have in the later part of the manga that just seems to appear alongside the pointless "audience reaction shots".

It struck me, Akuma Shogun wasn't a power fighter either. His mainstays were his acrobatics, ethereal body and diamond power. He also reversed plenty of techniques.

I think Akuma Shogun was just the perfect balance of power and technique: he could destroy you with stuff like the Nine-Point Seal and Hell Guilloutine, but at the same time reverses techniques or just uses his hardness factor to either slip away or just crush you. Heck, even his weakness is impossible to realize: the only way to stop a guy with no body...is to give him a physical body to damage!

There's something I wanted to ask you guys.

In the Dream Tag arc, how exactly did Big The Budo kill Screw Kid? It's like he petrified him and then made him crumble into several pieces. Does anyone have an explanation for that scene? I always did find it be hilarious, though.

Maybe Screw Kid broke apart because Budo's body was too hard.

He flexed his uber-abs, crushing Screw Kid.

"
122.
Robin: ICE ROCK GYRO---!!
Suguru: A…mazing: its 2 times; no, 10 times the power of Mammothman’s Ice Rock Gyro!!"

That doesn't even begin to make sense in any way whatsoever.

I thought 368 was pretty awesome, despite the inconsistencies.

I might have been more touched by 369 if the death had actually been definite. Yeah...

Why didn't Robin's pants remain like his helmet and armor? Clearly a logical inconsistency.

Either Suguru just likes to show off the power of the Justice Choujin more than their opponents, Robin made it more powerful by spinning much faster...or I TLed it wrong.

That actually would be funny...but who knows if they even want to remember Kenkaman at this point. (considering, you know, that's what Neptuneman returned to being at the end of the Tag arc)

Ah Friendship Power, the second season of UM drove that bit right into the ground during the last match over, and over, AND OVER again.

YUUJOW PAWA, it makes you win matches even if you suck ass. (Jade, Walleh and Dik Dik in the anime only folks)

Unfortunately that's what pretty much made the series the Japanese equivalent of Care Bears...only with wrestling moves instead of glowing stomachs.
