ah, very cool. Yeah my dad got them from his dad who i think had the first 20-30. most of them got ruined when their basement flooded in the early 70's, but the cedar chest that held the ones my dad got was elevated enough to not get wet.

Ah man, that is terrible. The next time you're over at your dad's house would you be able to get me a picture? That would be cool just to see the first 6 or 7 together. How is he storing his (if not still in cedar chest)? Mine is getting framed and will be hung on the wall.

well i live in socal and he lives in New Mexico. I'm not sure where he has them stored, i know he has them in between pieces of something like lexan and in a vacuum sealed bag so i dunno if he would let me open them up to take pics. He has a lot of old magazines, lithographs and baseball cards stored the same way, most i think he got from his dad as well.

Thanks to Clawfreak for spotting it. I'll get a picture of the cover this weekend. I'll be getting it framed.

You will. I'm not leaving my magazine with the framing company. I plan on bringing this magazine and another magazine. I'll use the Playboy one to set up what color I want in the background (thinking white, black, and red). I'll give them the other magazine, so they can use while the frame is being made (for measurements).

Sounds like your dad is sitting on a treasure chest. Well, if you can get a picture of them, that would be cool. If not, ah well. I told a guy I work with that I was buying this magazine, and he mentioned that he as some late 50s issues. They were water damaged before he bought them, but he only paid $5 for all of them.

i have been lucky enuf to look at that exact issue marilyn monroe is super hot! and naked is even better. in a similar story, a friend of mine lost his father and while going thru his effects in the attic they found the first 3 years of playboy magazine plus a ton of others thru the years. the prized 1st issue was there along with 2,3,4-whatever to year two (i don't know exactly how many issues). amazing find and the family was ecstatic of course. they sold their collection in auction and made a good bundle on it. was amazing to actually hold and look thru "the first" and epic marilyn pics.

congrats on the find bill and i hope he signs it. from what i know of hugh hefner, he is an awesome guy! so hopefully he goes thru with it.

yeah i love that sculpt as well. Part 23 isnt too expensive and pretty common on YAJ, you can get him pretty cheap.
