So I've had these two bootlegs for a while and at FIRST I just assumed that people had started to maybe customize the figures and started their own paint jobs. HOWEVER, then I read about that some of the vending machine bootlegs were occasionally painted.

Well - surely no one that is actually interested in painting their bootlegs are THIS BAD at painting them. So does that mean that these are likely painted BLs? Meaning they came like that? How do you tell?

Thanks,

PF

Yeah that's a set (I forget what all belongs to them) of vending machine bootlegs. At least the blue, I think there are some with black paint as well. I'd have to look through my bootleg collection but there are a handful of characters from that line.

Yeah, US bootleg set, all have different paint apps. Black, blue, red, and green I believe.

LOL they are so ugly!! I can just see someone in a factory assembly line slopping on the paint as they come down a conveyor belt...

Are these particularly unique or relatively common?

PF

Fairly common I believe, as bootlegs go. I have to dig out my bootleg collection and see what I still need. I love them all for their ugly... some more than others. I think my favorite horrible bootlegs are the ones I ended up with first, sort of metallic blue and purple ones if memory serves. These ones are sort of hollow with horrible flashing and even downright misaligned molds at times.

Thanks for the info!  I really know nothing about bootlegs... I have sold a few here and there but I never really know if I'm giving them away or getting a good deal.

Take care,

I started accidentally collecting them in lots of M.U.S.C.L.E. I was collecting. After a bit of putting them aside I realized I had a fair amount. Then they grew on me. I've since bought lots just for bootlegs, and even some here and there from people on the board. I would have no idea on value. Ones in lots I've paid an average of about 50 cents each. Probably paid a buck each for ones I've picked up in lots. Personally, I would probably value at about a buck each if they were ones I don't have yet, and buying individually. There are a few people fight over, so those you'd be better off auctioning to find a current value. That 6 armed Buffaloman and others from that set come to mind.

That sounds pretty cool... A 6 armed buffalo man? Wow!

I had an orange Terryman with drill hands that someone told me was of some value. It would be cool of someone could create a master list of bootlegs and info (if possible) about the different vending lines. Littlewierdos has a little bit about that, and I guess much more would be practically impossible. Still - it would be neat.

Something like a 6 armed buffalo man is that based on the Japanese muscles... Or is it an original?

Check UofM for some more info. THe 6 armed Buffaloman is a mashup Frankenstein-like Amalgam figure. Yeah I haven't seen the Terry man with drill hands, but sounds like the same type of deal Terry Man mixed with Screw Kid maybe? I would figure any less common bootlegs might go for a bit depending on who sees it and is after it. I'm just really guessing though.
