Seen this on ebay, what do you guys think?

Could this be one of the early pathfinders?

Saw this in a bunch for sale a week or two ago. Assumed someone had just painted it but yeah could be super rare.

Interesting, from what I have heard an original black pathfinder has never been found by anyone on here.

I was thinking the same thing that it might be painted but the seller is quoting it as an ultra rare.

I messaged the seller & asked if it was a pathfinder but he didn't seem so sure so I didn't bother bidding as it was probably too good to be true.

Looks like hes relisted as pathfinder now.

So i won the new listing. When it arrives i'll pop up some better pictures. Not sure how to tell if its authentic, perhaps look to see if its black rubber under the surface?

Cool, I was gonna bid but I was too sceptical. If it is legit then that's a good find. I think you'll be able to tell if it's been painted when you see it.

I find it strange why none others have showed up but it is possible they are super rare similar to the star jotun trolls but I'm not sure what the odds are but good luck.

If it's been painted very well then yes looking under the surface may be the only true method of authenticity.

Sorry to hear that, I thought it was too good to be true.

Fare play for bidding & giving ot a go. Thank God you didn't go bidding silly money for the 'super rare' one.
You can kind of swallow a tenner.

Damn, you can really see the blue through the black, is that only with the light on it or could the seller have seen that?

Your in your right to ask for a refund/return as clearly it was painted & not as stated.

Do you think we can safetly say that the pathfinders never existed?

I probably could but for a tenner i won't bother. If it had been real I'd have got a steal, just the way she goes. I think we'd have definitely seen a pathfinder by now if they existed. Keeping my eyes peeled for those pink and orange slimes now.

Pardon my noob ignorance but what’s the difference between a black spy and a pathfinder?

Pathfinders were the original spies.

Spies came out in series 3

This is the panflet from series 1.

Thats a good question....

Well from what we know, no legit original pathfinders have ever been found.

I collected mini boglins as a youngster & never saw any sculpts in black until the later Spies were released.

Black versions of these were Glup, Minx, Dork, Flarp, Klab, Spig, Tong & Prod.

It would have been extremely unlikely that any original pathfinder was the same sculpt as some of these but not impossible as some of these ones were in Series 1 but since none of us saw any until the later spies came out it was unlikely they existed any way.

The black Boik on ebay that I started this thread about raised eyebrows as it was different to the allocated spies but unfortunately it was a dud as most of us thought I guess as it only went for a tenner!

You are probably more likely to get struck by lightning twice, than find one of these it seems ;-)

Long winded answer but hope that helps :-)

Yeah basically :-)

The thing is on the series 1 panflet they also said about finding a 'king boglin' & that never existed too so it seems they were spinning us a yarn with a couple things just to keep us coming back for more...

Wouldn't so much say they were leading us on with some things, such as the king boglin, it was planned Tim Clarke even found the old original cast last year or so that they didn't do anything with in the end and finished it up before releasing it himself in rubber form.

There's been a few cases of this with boglins, another is the illustrations of Bash Em Boglins shows 3 types but they only ever made 2, there are also trade catalogues too with variations of existing boglins that were never put into production.
