I've been looking for this toy on and off for a while. It's entirely possible that it was some kind of generic toy that most people never saw, but it seemed to cool for that. I'll describe it the best I can, but it's been years since I've seen it (other than a few pieces of it I've managed to find.)
I got it around 1984-86. It was an action figure, and I think it was bigger than He-Man figures. It looked like he was wearing some sort of space suit, which was black and gray/silver, with a helmet and space-boots. He had purple gloves and at least one purple gun. His head was true white (not flesh colored.) But what was unique was that he could be taken apart and put together at most of the joints (almost like Modulok from He-Man but not nearly as many combinations.) The gun could be put on his back or chest or I think on his arms or helmet. Anyone remember this guy and what he was called?

I think what you are describing is a toy line from REMCO in 1984 called "Mantech." They were interchangeable series of figures using 6mm holes and pegs with a rotating mechanism.

Hey, that's him!
Thanks a lot. I've looked everywhere for that, but without a name it was the old needle in a haystack.

Glad to be of service.
It took me a while to try to visualize the toy you were describing. I never had any of them, however, after all the collections of toys I have bought and sold over the years, I remembered them. I am just glad I could find a site with photos of them for ya!
You actually played with these? Just kiddin'! Ha! Ha!

Only played with the one I described. I don't even remember seeing any others, and I know I didn't have any. I liked just about anything like that or Modulok that you could take apart and customize.

Anyone remember the knock-off figures that were Masters of the Universe bodys with oversized rubber heads that came off pretty easily?
One had a pig's face, and one looked like Lavar Burton with wings.
The pig came with an oversized mace, I think.

Our glorious Milky Way is a tiny, infinitesimal speck of sand in this vast, incomprehensible universe. And somewhere in that Milky Way is our own solar system, less than one billionth of that speck of sand that is the Milky Way. And then there is our planet Earth, one hundred trillionth of that one billionth of that one speck of sand. And on this planet Earth there is DEV-0, an insignificant blemish with a lifespan too short to measure when placed in infinite time.
And you are here, with them, as so many specks of sand.

Those were either "Animax" or "Galaxy Warriors."
