Hey guys,

I bring to you, yet another assortment of random toys (mostly from my childhood) that need IDing it. I've included Muscle Man in there with a few pics for size comparison. A handful of these I might be looking to trade off. I'll specify in a thread on the Got Toys board. I'll start off with these action figure guys...

I actually remember a surprising amount of information about these mini figures, it's just their name that eludes me.
The markings read:
© M.I. 1988
MALAYSIA
The figure each came with 3 accessories: 1 plastic weapon, 1 plastic gray backpack that would stick into the hole in their backs, and a plastic silver badge that you could clip onto your shirt and the figure would fit into it.
Each branch of military/fighting force was represented in the toy line by 2 figures each. As you can see, I had a few pairings.
So any idea what these dudes were called?

These robots are a hard plastic and two times the size of a MUSCLE. By my guess I've had them since 1991 at the very latest. The only marking is CHINA

Attached File  littleplasticbots1.JPG   317.13K   70 downloadsAttached File  littleplasticbots2.JPG   343.04K   37 downloads
These smaller bots are a hard plastic. They sound a bit hollow, but I wouldn't say their fragile. Pretty good-lookin little guys if you ask me. These are probably a little more recent. Maybe late '90s? Their only markings read MADE IN CHINA

Attached File  targetpracticebots.JPG   373.34K   29 downloads
From what I recall, these guys came with some sort of cheap dollar store gun toy and were to be used like targets to see if you could knock them down. Of course, it'd be helpful if they stood up easily, but whaddya expect? I have 2 in each color as I believe all 6 figs came with the toy gun. No markings. Probably got these in the early 2000s.

Attached File  parachute1.JPG   305.78K   28 downloads
For no reason whatsoever, here are some parachutemen I've had for years. The light purple guy goes back probably as far as when I was like 3 or 4 ('87-'88?)!

The following group, if I recall correctly, are all from the same set.
Attached File  crabpeople.JPG   310.72K   28 downloadsAttached File  lazeraliensrobots.JPG   280.45K   18 downloads
Attached File  chicksandswordsman.JPG   307.08K   22 downloadsAttached File  raygunman.JPG   319.28K   18 downloads
Attached File  spacecomparison.JPG   392.99K   25 downloads
They're all plastic, no markings, and I've had them since the early '90s.

Attached File  pumpkinheartrubberbots.JPG   317.44K   35 downloads
Here's a random assortment. I don't really expect IDs on the pumpkin and armless heart guy. I just assume they were cheap Halloween/VDay favors or something. The two rubber bots are the right are pencil toppers.

Attached File  heman.JPG   358.26K   49 downloads
I was in a "I really wanna buy some cool bootleg mini-figs mood" and bought these crappy plastic He-Man toys from ebay on a whim. $4 for the lot of them, and yet I still feel ripped off. Crappy pieces of crap.... Oh wait! The generous seller included a few more things...

Attached File  minidinos.JPG   316.51K   39 downloadsAttached File  sailormoon.JPG   404.92K   37 downloads
...these tiny plastic choking hazards! The platforms that the Sailor Moon girls are standing on have little designs on the bottom. I think they're stamps or something? I don't know. I don't REALLY care either.

Here's a size comparison shot for the last few.
Attached File  assortcompare.JPG   412.12K   35 downloads

That's all for now! Let me know! Remember, a handful of this crap will be up for trade in the Got Toys forum.

If you are interested, here is the link to my posting on the Got Toys board with a group shot of the figures I'm looking to trade.

I have those Plastic Robots. I got them from Lucky bags in the late 80,s and 90,s. You can get them in pink as well. The orange robot in the First Photo is a Dom from Gundam. It was one of my favorites as a child because it looked like the Bazooka robots from the game Space Harrier. Although in some versions of Space Harrier them robots are called Dom's.

1. These appear to be bootleg versions of Military Muscle Men. Yours have almost no paint, simpler color schemes and closed fists with pegs instead of the open hands on the originals, but the sculpts and proportions otherwise look right. Guess the boots also kept the medal gimmick.

2. These are one of the infinite versions of Japanese bootleg robots out there. Acidonia correctly identified a Dom from Gundam. I also recognize L-Gaim. He's the one you have in both blue and green.

3. These guys are from no particular series on their own. They're more of a generic mix of features that you could recognize elsewhere, such as the Gundam shield many are carrying. One iteration of the smaller robots were made by Panosh and designed to cash in on Power Rangers. I haven't seen the two bigger ones though, but similarly copy the style of VR Troopers.

4. These guys are all Brave Reideen, also known as Raydeen from Shogun Warriors.

5. Can't help you here, paratrooper toys like these are a dime a dozen.

6. This assortment of alien characters, especially the square robot, are from a Star Wars inspired series of figures. I don't have the name right now, but if I don't get it, somebody will.

7. I used to own an eraser or two like the R2-D2 lookalike. All I know about these for now is they were educational fodder, at book fairs and whatnot.

8. Yeah, you know these guys, and these He-Man minis have been seen before. Did we ever discover the full story on these? I don't remember.

9. These dinosaur skeletons look like they're based on those cheap dollar-store bags of dinosaurs that could be found anywhere. From their crappy, crappy appearance, I'm not sure they were based on an existing design.

10. I've seen bootleg Godzilla stamps that are kinda like these, so you have the right idea.

Not sure I agree with your ID on these guys. My dudes are copyright 1988 and Military Muscle Men are from 1993. The concept is similar, but they're pretty sturdy, high-quality plastic. Definitely not bootlegs of anything. They're from their own series.

You've got one guy with an entirely unpainted face mask, left in the flesh color. You sure you want to claim these aren't bootlegs?

Copyrights do not necessarily reflect the actual year of manufacture. Also, the 1993 line may not represent their first release (see older thread here). Not owning one and with so little concrete info, I can't outright prove it.

I see what you're saying but with the quality of the toys themselves, plus the accessories that I remember vividly, I'm about 99% positive these are no bootlegs. The badges they came with were vastly different than the ones that came with Military Muscle Men, plus they were all unique to the figure they came with. Too much work went into this series.

They are "Men of Medal" 1988, and I believe they were made by Mattel.

So. lack of paint doesn't always mean something is a knockoff.

*** Here is a big lot of them on eGay. :)

Group 6 are all from Galaxy Laser Team by Tim-Mee/Processed Plastics. I have a couple I got from OmegaTraf and they are nifty figures. You can see the packaging here (near the bottom) http://www.angelfire.../Timmeeciv.html.

URS, thanks for solving that debate. I knew I wasn't crazy!

Nyarlathotep, thanks for the info on the space men group. Looking at that angelfire page, I also have the normal-looking spacemen that are included in that set, but I left those back east.

URS didn't post in this thread. What are you talking about?! :bunny: Did you remember your medication?

I can't win them all. You're welcome for all the other IDs, by the way. :)

Don't follow him, but I found that Pixel Dan actually reviewed these suckers on a video.

The vehicle/medal display is clever.

Sorry Boa, thanks for the other IDs.
I just watched that review, btw, and he said that there were no villains and only 14 figures, but you'll notice the guy in black that I have in my first picture isn't on the back of the packaging that they show in the video. I wonder if he's a villain? Maybe it's rare?

One of the loose complete figures was black and had a mostly-black medal labeled "Bomber" which doesn't match the 14 good guys. His information is apparently based only on that packaging, so if the black figures are Traitors, perhaps they reuse the packaging of the good guys or came out later on an updated card.

Wow, thanks for IDing these guys! I used to have them in my childhood and cherished them until I graduated to Star Wars figures. :)

A while back, some posted pictures of those same sculpts, but twice the size. Wonder if they were made by the same company. D'oh. Didn't scroll down far enough!

I'm sorry....I'm not sure I understand your first comment.

And not trying to be a doody head that I am, because you have been highly resourceful in these ID topics, but aside from Raydeen...what else did you fully identify?

He said he wasn't crazy, so I started acting like he was.

I'd thought I'd identified the first guys, the small robots have no identity other than maybe being Panosh versions (they're common Chinese vending molds), and I was going to identify the Tim-Mee guys. There's nothing to identify on the He-Man and Sailor Moon toys other than manufacturers. I'm also hoping to identify the rest of the figures in the lot with Dom and L-Gaim later.

But you know what? Nobody really cares when I help, so why bother? It's so much easier to sit on the sidelines and stop caring about this subforum.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but aren't the 2 red or orange or whatever guys in this pic from Robotech?Attached File  bigplasticbots1.JPG.jpeg   349.97K   6 downloads

Either way my brother has a big yellow knock off of one of these guys as well as a king the 100 ton from I believe the same line of knock offs.

Also I want those 2

& I think it's time to offer my brother something for his.

Also I have lots of the plastic figures from the line the turtle in the post before mine came from.... willing to part with doubles if someone has something unique for a trade.

Thanks,

Luke

Acidonia IDed the first of those orange guys as Dom from Gundam. The other guy still has yet to be IDed so it very possibly could be from Robotech.

I have the little blue guy with glasses and the borwn hat, he has a green gun with a little brown satchel, come to think of it it may supposed to be a parachute.

I do remember the green white and pink guys as some aliens versus people space sets that were like the green army sets.

Just FYI...
First lot of Robots (multicolored ) , 2nd pic in the 3 pic group , the far right green and blue figures...

Orguss Knock Offs.

Im interested in acquiring some of the smaller hard plastic robots pictured in the 3rd grouping. The "hollow sounding" little guys next to the VR trooper KO's. If anyone has any available id really appreciate 1 or 2.

Divide & conquer works because of attachments people make to push-button issues, individual "leaders," parties, clans, tribes, policies, or agendas, leaving them open to manipulation.
