Hello,

I became a member recently to figure out what exactly my sister in law gave me. Now after some studying here, I'm still pretty clueless.

Long story short, the family business here in Japan is to tear down old houses, and what's left in them (by the owners) is thrown away in the process.

A few days ago to my surprise I was given an enormous box filled with rubber figures. That my sister in law have been saving from the trash-bin for years.

Since I sell Japanese antiques, I think she figured I could sell these too. Only problem is that aside from seeing kinnikuman manga at some ramen stores, I'm as stated above, pretty clueless.

Anyway, among countless cars and manga related figures, there's a lot, a lot of kinnikuman.  I checked around on the forum and found, Warsman with spikes, Satan Cross ©, and Ramen man with Dragon. Beside that there are a few figures I can't place.  I'm not sure about the value of this hoard, but I thought it would be best to split it all up and various collectors could grab what they wanted.

I'm new to this. So bare with me if I post the most common figures with the most common questions.

Feel free to head over to photobucket for more photos

Welcome to the board!

From left to right:

- part 01 Ashuraman

- part 10 Ashuraman

- part 05 Chienowa Man

- part 06 Ashuraman

- part 08 Nagaashigon

- part 05 Bibimba

- part 22 Ramenman

- part 08 Bazoogara

- part 05 Turbo Machine (bootleg color)

- part 04 Jawsman (doesn't seem the legit black color, so possibly a bootleg)

- part 04 Hammerhead

- part 08 Chanelman

- part 09 Black Fighter

- part 08 Kazuo Nakano

- part 01 Buffaloman

- part 07 Buffaloman

- part 22 Warsman

The higher the part number, the higher is their value.

Up to part 15 I'd say 1-2 USD, the part 22 figures (Ramenman and Warsman) I saw them go for 5-10 USD.

The clear red with glitter is not common and it can goes from 8 to 15 USD.

I'm sure other kinkeshi collector more expert than me will chime in and correct my values.

nanoFatato!

Thank you for your fast reply.

I do have a few follow up questions.

  • Research
How would I be able to know the parts number on my own?
I have a ton of these and the thread would be never ending if I kept adding each figure. I really appreciate the help, but I could save a lot of people time, if I had the ability to research myself.

  • Bootleg
I have a few figures with no stamps and I thought that meant bootleg. The color is the way to separate bootleg from none bootleg I take it? Would you think the bootlegs have any value?

  • Color
The part 06 ashuraman is way more skin colored than pink, in fact the only figure with that specific color I have. It might be hard to see. I only have tungsten light to work with and my camera doesn't always represent the colors perfectly. Jawsman is the only black figure I have as well.

  • Bootleg vs Production Date/Series
I thought a light difference is pink, or say blue might have meant different production dates. I have identical figures is slightly different color variation.

Tons to learn!

On another note,
If anyone needs a Japanese to English or vice versa translation I would be happy to help.

Neither is my first language, but I can make myself understood.

Also, if anyone wants a specific figure please let me know by posting a pic or link. Could very well be hiding in my hoard.

I'd be interested in the Warsman or Ramenman if you're looking to sell. I'd ask for both but I would like to give someone else a chance for one of them. Keep me in mind and PM me if you do want to sell.

It's definitely NOT an Exogini. They went to the expense of filling in the Y-S-N/T on the backs of all of the figures before remolding them.

Truth. And not a Cosmix too.

Because it's not amongst the 40 sculpt of the line :)

@boxfullofquestions

you can start for sure reading the one and only Naochin's website: http://kin29mankeshi.web.fc2.com and this one: http://www.din.or.jp...emia/index.html

The bootleg topic is long and complicated. There are obvious ones (poor molding, no YS/NT on the back, no standard colors, smaller in size, etc.) and less obvious (YS/NT present but faded, same colors but cheaper rubber, little molding flaws, etc.), on top of that you have to consider legit color variations (pastel green, semi-pastel green, light yellow, and a bunch of strange colors that are out there and they are official like neon pink, magenta, black, dark-flesh, orange, brown, white, etc.)

Personally I like to collect bootlegs and I can say that the more you have the more you learn to recognize them.

The Ashuraman in beige color (or sand, how I like to call it) is an official one, but not all the figures exist. It's not rare or uncommon though.

The black Jawsman is a legit black, so you have a pretty nice figure there.

They are 20+ years old toys, so the color could be changed due to discoloration, sun, stains and such.

You can encounter the Anniversary figures (firm and shiny rubber, embossed YS/NT markings),  the Reissue figures (CHINA on the back, smaller) and the Complete Boxset figures (firm and shiny rubber, light flesh only).

This is only a very small summary of kinkeshi collecting (the 418 sculpts), if you dig a little more you can find Popy, Deka, Chibi, and a giant headache coming lol.

@nanoFatato

You deserve a crown! Many thanks for the information.

I have a day of tomorrow, and I will be taking more photos to upload, and also answer any questions I got here.

I haven't read the rules for selling here so I can't reply to any sales related questions yet.

Big thanks to everyone else too!

Hi and welcome to LRG!

The black and tan figures are chase figures like the red glitter figure. Not super valuable (not much demand for them), but worth more than their common colored counterparts. The glitter ones are worth more because of higher demand.

Selling rules are here.

Good pictures are the key. You should definitely post here first to get a gauge of what the figures values are though.

Some figures are worth very little (25 cents). Some are very, very valuable ($250+).
