These figures are for the new DreamWorks Animation film Home.  In this movie, Earth is invaded by an alien race called the Boov.  The Boov change colors depending on their "mood."  Almost all of these 18 figures are depictions of the main character Oh (voiced by Jim Parsons) in his various emotional colors.  The three exceptions are a calico cat named Pig, a generic Baby Boov, and the leader/antagonist Captain Smek (voiced by Steve Martin). The film opens in theaters on March 27, 2015.

The 18 figures are made by Kid Designs, and are sold singly in blister packs. They range in size from 1.75 to 2 inches, depending on how extended their antennae are.  They are made of a medium-hard, semi-pliable plastic that is common to many figures. While they lack any articulation, the plastic and paint is top quality.  They cost $4 each.

The default "mood" of  a Boov corresponds to either purple or pink.  Here is what we learn about their emotional states based on the 15 colored Boov figures:

Blue = Doubtful or Sad

Green = Naughty or Grumpy

Yellow = Shocked or Frightened

Orange = Excited or Silly

Red = Angry (only one figure)

Bright Pink = Bashful or Loving

Light Pink = Happy or Cool

Purple = Joyful or Fascinated

Fortunately, the expressions of my favorite figures corresponded with my favorite colors, so I probably can live without acquiring the full set.  The full set is $72 after all.  I should also mention that they couldn't resist that seemingly obligatory toyline gimmick of labeling this "First Series" -- so, if these do well, we can expect even more figures in the future.

Here are pictures of the packaging, checklist, and a promotional shot of the figure pairing.

These have begun showing up in Home Bargains, although I've only seen them in one of four stores, which leads me to think that stock is very limited.

They had the blisters above, and also the mood balls, which are just gacha capsules with the same figures inside them. Both are 99p each even though they were priced £3.99 and £5.99 when full price.

Annoyingly I only managed to find 17 of the 18 figures (16 of them in mood balls, 1 on a blister)! Still missing 'Fascinated'. The quality of the figures though is, as you'd expect, excellent.

Yeah, these were being sold for like $8 apiece. Some look neat, but not $8 neat for a 2" figure.

No kidding, the price of toys these days is ridiculous. This is why I buy most of my toys on clearance. They are definitely worth the $1.50 I paid :)

Isn't this because the price of plastic is going up its effected certain company more than others. Hasbro are by far the worst just look how cheap transformers have become. They ask almost up to £10 in some places for the 3cm tall ones when a few years back they was under £5. Its made more noticeable when plenty of shops have last years stock which are larger and still full price sat right next to this years which are smaller and less painted for same price.

Most action figures no matter what size barely have and weapons or accessories anymore and action features are rare. Playmates are geting really cheap like this with Ninja Turtle figures figures like atilla the Frog on their Bio is clearly holding a staff but the figure has none not even a way to hold weapons. The new Fugitoid figure has no accessories at all yet the 2003 series one had a backpack and the original had a few weapons.

I will try to pick up Fascinated for you if they are still out and about!

These made the clearance-store rounds about a month ago here.

I ended up going for the whole set, since the were at clearance prices.

The only one that I am unable to find is Joyful.

Success, I found some mood balls in Poundworld and was able to acquire my missing Fascinated figure. So now I have the full set. Hooray.

So frustrating when you just need one to complete a set. I am in that position now with the Star Wars Wikkeez, which have also been turning up in Poundworld. I have multiples of 19 out of the set of 20, but not a single Princess Leia.

I am only missing one:  Joyful.

Can you help me out?

Also, I got those 3 exclusive Legend of Nara figures for you.

And thanks for reminding me that we did not get Wikkeez!  I had my fingers crossed on that line, since it was a major-license partnership.  But, nope.
