Really don't like those large, oversized figures.
About as unlike Battle Beasts as you could possibly get.

The mini-mates versions seem the way to go, I'd definately buy those, but haven't heard much from Diamond Toys since the promo figure. Have they abandoned plans to release them?

Man I just saw these on Toyark and came over here to see what everyone thought.

However, oddly enought tonight from Target I found these little guys that are part of the Halo Mega Block line, they are smaller than the original Battle Beast and have super articulation.

which guys are you referring to? The BB minimates? Were you referrinhg to something else entirely (you didn't post a scan, so I'm trying to figure out what you mean). :D

Is the yellow Gator Guard the same one from the base playset that also came with a human figure?!?

Yeah, who was that human figure anyway (I saw pictures from an earlier convention that someone sent me)? Was the base playset supposed to be Specifically for the Battle beasts minimates ...or was it for some other minimates line and they just put the battle beast-for show- in with it?

Ok fine, I retract my earlier statement of maybe buying these to definitely buying these. Hell, I'll buy three sets just as long as you keep them away from that minimate line.

When you consider the train wreck that often accompanies a property re-launch, you've got to consider these to be pretty good. But that's coming from a non-BB collector. God knows I hated the MUSCLE re-launch.

The only complaint I have is that they seem to be collectibles instead of toys. I think a brand like BB is meant to be played with, not shelved.

Yeah, I've seen some relaunches that were pretty pathetic, and some leading to nowhere. I like look of these larger figs though.

I like the larger figures better, too (although I'd buy the minimates as well, because they're BB figures.) I'm not a fan (in general) of the minimates line myself. I'm usually not big on relaunches either, but my friened had gone to COmic Con this year, and showed me the pics of the larger figs. I was blown away (I hadn't even KNOWN about the plans for a minimates line ... let alone the larger figures).

Yeah, what's the word on that? Are they still going to release the mini mate versions? Since some you guys have them, can you tell me if they were given names (Gruesome Gator/Alligatron, red octo/Octillion Octopus ) ? Also, was the "Gator Guard" variants given away at the three conventions supposed to be seperate characters from Alligatron?

Those are pretty sweet. Of course, I'm into the simple BBs from the 80's myself. I'm glad people are being creative with the theme. I dig.

Unfortunately, no. I had some issues with some of the designs, mainly the gorilla, but I was actually going to pick these up. But instead they went with the crappy Minimate versions that, in my opinion, have much weaker character designs. Add to that the poor quality everyone is complaining about, and you have what could have been a decent reboot instead turning into a HUGE missed opportunity for DST.

Agreed. The sculpts of the 6 inchers were very cool, and I'm sure their limbs were firmly attatched. The mini mates ones are garbage, and nothing more than 'custom fodder' in my opinion.

Seeing those six inch figures is what got me back into Battle Beasts, then into Beast Saga. I actually liked the gorilla, though not at first. Same with the octopus. Kind of a more funky, artsy styled toy. Would've been really cool if these were launched, or even to see if they had any other protos of other beasts.
