I know I mentioned this before on here but here are photos my dad took of his process in sculpting some of the Power Lords.

Hope you dudes enjoy them:

He sent notes on the process along with the pic:

Process for all

- Sculpt rough 2:1 clay figure in moldable parts

- Create rubber molds & cast parts in tracing epoxy

- Set up jigs for epoxy castings to pantograph down to 1:1 size in acetate

- Pantograph in sections for production casting in 2 part steel injection molds

- Machine all acetate pieces for figure articulation

- Add final details to acetate masters with scrapers & engravers

- Smooth & final polish all pieces with glass brushes & pumice

- Assemble & check for moldability & smooth figure action

Sydot 2:1 clay - 7 parts

Disguyzor - Disassembled 1:1 acetate - 30 parts

Disguyzor - Final 1:1 assembled acetate master

Bakatak - 2:1 clay - 8 parts

Bakatak - Final 1:1 assembled acetate master - 19 parts

Used 30 year old, no longer available, colored acetate

Adam Power - 2:1 rough clay - 6 parts

Revell insisted on thin face - told them it would shrink in casting & be too thin

I was overruled by Barlow & final figure looked like a skinny wimp

Adam Power / Power Lord - 1:1 assembled acetate master - 17 parts

I always like the vertical lines and fine details present on the main guy.  Could have been done with a half ass paint job, but the sculpt goes the extra mile and really adds texture.  I love it!

Wow, thanks for sharing.  Very cool and very informative.  I noticed that the earlier versions of some of these guys have their arms in one piece, and in later versions have GI Joe style elbow articulation.  How are the pieces separated to create this joint?
