Does that mean that Microsoft owns BattleToads?

And if so... Wouldn't it be awesome if they made a new game? There seems to be a real resurgence of old school 2D play forming games (Mario, Rayman etc)... Battletoads just seems like a no brainer given the trend and built in fan base!!!

That game taught me how to cuss.  Sure it was awesome and I finally beat it, but the journey there was vulgar.  Back on topic, if they stayed true to their source material, a new battletoads game would be badass.

It would be awesome but I think Battletoads is in the same limbo that Killer Insticts is in. It is only partially owned by Rare thus Microsoft only bought a half of it. The other half is still owned by another company.

Lets not try to challenge kids by having them try to relate to something in context.... how 'bout we "update" the hell out of EVERYTHING and pander to them? That way, no one is happy!

Meh. I know it will probably never happen... But man if they could work it out! I can't imagine that it would
be very expensive to produce either.

I wonder if all the messy ownership issues are the reason I've never seen it in the old games section of the wii or wii u? Have they ever had it one the xbox arcade of anything? I've never had an xbox.

If it was done by the rare team that existed while under Nintendo then I would love to see it done. Anything they did was golden. Since the Microsoft takeover I believe most of the old team has left. Now they pretty much make kinect only games, and the last banjo game was pretty bad IMO.

I think Battletoads was a close second to me. The first game to push me to the anger limit was originally Megaman. BT was only annoying on certain stages. Mega angered me everywhere but on boss battles. Stupid holes and my bodies willingness to fall into them...

Castlevania and Silver Surfer pissed me off so much that I stopped playing them. Mega Man kicked my ass pretty hard too though, until the SNES X series came along.

I haven't thought about Silver Surfer in YEARS! I don't know you guys remember... When they released the SS game they had a high score contest. You had to take a picture of your high score and. Mail it in and if memory serves correctly the top prize was a Silver Surfer jet ski (wtf?)... Like what am I gonna do with a jet ski in the middle of Indiana? But I was super excited... So anyhow in the game I found a little "safe" spot where you could stay and enmities would regenerate ... And then I put a paper weight on my NES Advantage and just left it there constantly shooting. It took hours, but it maxed out the score.

Anyhow, I didn't win a jet ski... But I did get a really cool silver surfer watch!

And no... I never did beat the game either lol...

That makes you one of the only people to get anything other than a headache or high blood pressure from playing that game lol. They had it in the arcade near me and I killed $3 in like 2 minutes. Tried it a couple more times before just giving up.

This article is KINDA related to the thread is Microsoft is commenting other relationship with the developer RARE (who we all know did Battletoads) and they are mentioning that there are some new things in the works from RARE!!!
