Candelaman, Candelman, Candleman, Canderaman, Kanderaman, Lod IX, Zod IX, Zed IX, Sud IX (or so hsi forehead says at least once)

Just what is this guy? A candle? An escaped convict? A statue? A mime? A clone? Cigar wrapping? Does anybody have even a remote idea what he is? The writing on his forehead isn't even consistent (Is it Lod, Zod, Zed... or Sud?), and his random appearances can't seem to decide if he's segmented, striped, banded, or solid green-and-red. Interestingly enough, this was Tim Drage's favorite MUSCLE way back in the day, if I remember well enough.

Comic-wise, he got his first appearance in a group character submission pic at the beginning of the Golden Mask arc, but then showed up in a couple of crowd scenes among the Perfect Chojin in space.

Always wondered about this one myself... what the heck is he supposed to be? My brothers and I used to call him Lod Nine in the 80's

None that I can think of, except that maybe those stripes are like a cigar wrapper.

I really have no clue waht he is. I mean, he can't have anything to do with a unit of energy, can he? I'd almost think "convict," but... well, why?

Yes, big time minor character with very, very little info...Why I brought up Lcd/Ix earlier is because it looks to make sense what Uoozuman said that they look like something to do with SI photometric light unit symbols. (Thanks for the assistance, Uoozuman!)

Awesome! He's less minor int he MUSCLE collecting ocmmunity because Tim Drage (who made the third-ever MUSCLE site) absolutely loved the figure. it's more of an iold-timey thing, though.

So, any other random one-panel characters who are a complete mystery?

 Interestingly enough, this was Tim Drage's favorite MUSCLE way back in the day, if I remember well enough.

 

I definitely listed him as a favourite on my olde fan site At this point I can't really clearly remember how I felt about him as a kid vs re-reading my own old opinions about him online But yes always a favourite due to total enigmatic weirdness. Cool to learn in recent years what an oddball fan-submitted character he was.
