After receiving my Dino Gator about a week ago, I noticed that the gun barrels on his chest have metallic bronze/gold paint applications. I never noticed this until getting him in-hand, but I realized that there are no other beasts that have metallic finished paint. Also, unless I'm mistaken, I believe he's the only figure with 4 different colors in the pallet in addition to the base-color. (metallic gun barrels, magenta accents, grey armor, yellow eyes, green skin) whereas the other figures have at the most a base, armor, eye, and accent color. (most share eye/accent color)

Just wanted to share that since I hadn't seen it mentioned before in the forums. It is fun though to speculate that since he was the final figure of the series, perhaps his paint apps were an indicator that if the line had continued we'd have seen an increasing level of detail to paint applications and a wider variety of paint-types (but of course we'll never know). ;)

Thoughts?

Well its all speculation when it comes to a possible continued line looking at the more detailled paint apps of course, it could also be the wanted to end this line with just an awesome fig :) Dino Gator is one of the harder guys to get in my opinion unless your after him in the boxset but loose he doesn't come by that often. Personally I had the luck to have 3 of these figs in hand over time giving me the chance to pick the best one for my own collection but when it comes to the paint app your mentioning here namely the gold/bronze metallic color of its gun barrels on its chest there's a pretty big difference in 'quality' here since I've seen some on pics which barely had the color or some had so little it looked as if they were simply missed while painting or at least it was a rush job. Overal you rarely find a figure that has this paint app perfectly applied to the figure because all the ones I've seen, on pics and in hand, also the better ones always showed as if its been a friday late afternoon job ;) For a perfectionist like me this can be quite a pain in the #ss because these little issues keep me going to find even better ones for my own collection. The one I have in my collection now has the quite perfect painted gun barrels but its eye is not perfectly covered................ :)

Good eye, man!

Maybe, since they are gun barrels, they were trying to make them better match the gold color of his laser?

Plus, it would have looked pretty half-assed to leave them unpainted, and magenta guns woulda seemed pretty girlie.

I would feel rather insulted to be shot with a pink gun though!

By the way looking at the details of the figure I suppose you've given Organicbeets' Dino Gator a new home, right?

Its good to see these figs go round amongst LRG members because that way they'll stay within the community ;)
