A few of you might know what has been going on behind the scenes this last week, but I owe and apology to 2 friends of mine here on LRG, Plasticsoul and my business partner Ironmask.

First off, I highly respect Plasticsoul and everything he has done. I had the honor of first casting up his critter figure quite a while ago.  Off and on since then I had asked Plasticsoul if it would be ok to sell some on different occasions, but recently I made a bad mistake (which is a big mistake in the toy making community) and sold some without permission.  I made the mistake of assuming it would be ok, and that was completely wrong.  I hurt Plasticsoul and angered him with my actions and I am truly sorry for this.  I have worked out a deal to fix this mistake, and I hope we will be able to move past this and put it behind us.  Plasticsoul, bud, I am truly sorry I made this mistake and I hope you can forgive me.

Secondly; Jimmy, you are not someone I ever intentionally meant to hurt, and I am really sorry any of this came to be.  I have expressed my negligence with my bad business ability/mentality and lax way of handling all our affairs.  Unknowingly and non-purposely I haven’t compensated Jimmy enough over our endeavor of making toys together.  We had a deal to set money aside for a specific fund, and I took advantage of this fund for my personal use.  I had a problem of not handling this responsibility in a responsible matter and I am sorry for this.  I truly consider you a friend and it hurts me to thing I messed up our partnership.  I hope the agreement we have come to will be enough to amend this mistake and will allow the ability to move past this gracefully.  I am sorry my friend and no matter what happens I want to know I respect you greatly as a person and an artist, and I would like to thank you for being a driving forcing in getting me off my butt to release my own mini figures.

These mistakes have opened my eyes to how bad I have been running my business on many levels.  I never was one to take anything too seriously and took everything with a nonchalant attitude, and was way too laid back in my dealings. I never wrote anything down, I never took the time to double think my actions, I just got an idea and went with it.  This isn’t the way anyone should run anything business, and like these examples prove it will eventually bite you in the butt.  I will take what I learned here and push forward in a positive way and change my mistakes.

I apologize to all others on the board too for causing any drama and to anyone disappointed in my actions or who have lost faith in me.  I hope no one double thinks any dealings I have had with them, of believes I did anything on purpose to take advantage of a situation or rip anyone off.  I believe I have been a stand-up guy in any and all transactions and dealings on this forum, and try on most occasions to hook-up many of you.  I hope my future actions and business practices will speak for themselves and prove I’m not a bad guy, I just made a mistake.

To help pay my friends back I will be re-releasing most previous UoV figures (with the exception of Deadface or Hell Turtle, those will not be for sale).  All sales with go through my store to keep track of the order in which these all come in.  Before when I also took orders through PMs, it slowed me down and confused me when to fit them in between my store sales, so to make it easier on me we’ll just keep in the store.  The two figures voted in to be re-released last week (Brute and Cedargeif) will also get a special release as well in a gold set with a special header. I will be using sales from my last UoV figure as well which I will be releasing shortly, along with all of these.

I will be getting a suspension for these misdeeds, I believe which starts right away.   All current deals I have with anyone will have to go through my email, nothing should change and no one should worry about that. Email me at anytime to work anything out, I always have my phone on me and can usually reply within a few minutes if i am free. [Enilla1979@yahoo.com]

Thank you for taking the time read this, LRG for life.

:fop:

That is how someone apologizes to the board.  Taking full responsibility, owning it and fixing it without making excuses.

We've left this open for discussion, but please keep it civil.

Eric screwed up big time, but he has also worked things out with Ironmask and Plastic Soul to make things right.

He has been suspended for a minimum of 1 month, but the final time has not been decided yet. Until then, he is unable to post or use the PM system.

Because of my long time friendship with Eric, this has been a very tough situation and I am glad to see that things were able to be worked out. It's always hard when friends eff up. But I'm glad to see he is working to fix his mistakes.

Oh man, this is a really hard situation.  I've seen what happens when trused friends do dishonest things, and I've seen how easy it is for it to go south really fast.

Eric, I'm really glad that you're working out restitution, apologizing, and, well, taking your lumps.  It's hard - hard for you, and hard for us to see it (Me, too. You're my friend!!!), but this is way, way better than the alternative, y'know?  I'm unhappy that this even came up (any time something bad happens to a friend, it's heartbreaking!), but at least it's being handled.

And let this be a really good lesson for everybody - it's VERY easy to let a situation slide and get worse and worse, while thinking, "but I can make it up!"  Not even ponzi set out to screw people over, and according to his friends and relatives he really thought he could make up the deficit in his scheme before he got caught (it did work at first, but the laws changed to make what he was trying to do impossible).  When something goes south or you screw up... OWN UP TO IT.  And if in doubt, it's much better to ask permission than forgiveness.

But man, this is heartbreaking - but I'm glad that it'll work out.  Really glad, actually.

I won't say happy things about this since mismanagement of funds is both unethical and possibly criminal. But in the end, Ironmask is the one wronged in this and his say means more than any outsider to the incident described.

Eric is my friend. I use to be very antagonistic towards other collectors. He changed my attitude and introduced me to a whole new way of collecting. For that I will always be grateful to him. This situation saddens me. Eric at least had the balls to admit that he messed up and is trying to make amends unlike some other scammers lately. D-bags take notes, this is how a real stand up guy does it. So I hope no one chimes in and suddenly we have an Eric bashing thread. If That happens Jon, I hope you will make the right call and junk that crap.

Sorry to hear about this situation. Sometimes in life we do the wrong things without even realizing we're doing them until the damage has been done. It sucks, but what matters is that when we do realize it, we do everything we can to fix it. It sounds like Eric is doing that, and I really hope things can come to a positive resolution for everyone involved.

WoW! Out of all the guys on LRG...I did NOT expect this! I am a HUGE fan of yours Eric, always have been. You are an insanely gifted artist (Harking back to the LRG art contests ;) ) and your knowledge of various toylines seems to grow everyday. You've helped me out on more than one occasion and I am grateful to be your (internet) friend.

With Liz and I working on our own mini fig creations, this is EXACTLY why we wanted to cast our own and not send them to anybody else. We would have no idea how many extra pieces would be made and sold 'under the table'. In light of everything though,my faith AND respect for you Eric has NOT been shaken. EVERYBODY makes mistakes, cause nobody is 'perfect'. So all-in-all,I'm still an Ericnilla fan in spite of recent events :drinks:

I was torn about replying to this thread or just sitting it out but i think it's easier to move past things when stuff is out in the open. Plus i've been getting a few e-mails from people asking why i would get mad if he had permission to make them. So there are 3 things i want to explain.

1. To be perfectly clear anytime Eric ever asked me if he could sell my crite figure i always said yes and never wanted anything in return. On several occasions people here would ask me for some when none were available and i would offer the job to Eric so he could make some easy cash. The deal was he wasn't supposed to sell them without asking so if i had some coming out soon i would still have customers to serve. Had he asked me about the big orders he took recently i would have said yes. Had he told me about them after the fact i would have still most likely not complained or ask for compensation. Finding out about them from someone else was pretty upsetting. I did feel used and honestly a bit cheated.

2. He has agreed to make things right. He is willing to step up and pay me everything he made from those sales. Not just a cut or a percentage, everything. He is trying his best to fix what happened and he's doing it the right way. Everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes they are simple with easy fixes. Sometimes they are a lot harder to fix. Learning from them and making amends is what's important and i honestly think that's what he's doing, You can't really ask for more then that.

3. If you want to help him get through this the easiest way would be to not turn your back on him. It's not often someone here makes a mistake then owns up to it publicly and tries to fix it while taking their lumps. Send him an e-mail and tell him you'll welcome him when he comes back. Or maybe even go buy a new or old UofV figure and help him out of the hole he's fallen into. Regardless of how you feel about the situation i really don't think any person here wants him to give up on making toys. I think with your support he can get through this and come back here with a fresh start and still be the guy a lot of you called a good friend. He can fix this. It won't be easy or fun but he can do it. I know he can.

I kind of want to get in on UoV, now that they are being reissued, but why no Deadface or Hell Turtle as well as those campanions sets (forgot the name), I have been out of the loop when it comes to UoV.

it has to do with them not only being Ironmask's sculpts, but really his flagship characters, and  he would feel more comfortable producing them himself.

................................ guess this is such a situation in which you end up in between two different sides so I sort of get the feeling what John must have had on the Venom issue we went through recently.

I've always looked at Eric as one of the godfathers of the board so like others mentioned above its quite strange to hear about this situation. But I think this is also the result of the way we deal with each other out here as most of the diehard members are pretty laid back and easy to deal with which in my opinion is a good thing because its all built on trust. And I think we all know based on our own experiences who can be trusted and who not or who more than others. Like most of the artists out here who I have good connections with and that I trust Mr. Nilla is one of those that I buy from or who I commission for certain pieces and this is all based on the trust I have in him and the top quality he's able to produce, so like other artists I've always given him all the freedom and time because I know he's a busy guy because I'm not the only person who's 'demanding' something from him as were all aware of his great skills.

The problem we are facing here IMHO is that our friend Mr. Nilla is so skilled and has a hard time to reject any commissions from his LRG board friends he's not been fully aware that he was actually close to running a semi-professional Toy casting factory :) We all know he's been doing this for fun and as a part of his hobby but with the projects he's been working on and the amounts that came with it together with the quality he's known for I can imagine this has become quite a heavy duty. We've all been relying on his skills when it comes to having figures casted up but we might have underestimated the pressure we've been placing our friend under. I've a project running with Eric since the end of 2012 while it was in line for even much longer, its just about a few figs but I 'demand' the best of the best quality which is something we agreed on and I'll pay him for but I also think its fair to give him the time for it. Sometimes its frustrating to hear that when I PM him about an update he's always replying with the fact he's to busy with other casting projects and mine is going slowly or is back in line. For me that is not a problem because as mentioned I'd rather wait a few months longer and have him casted up the quality I hoped for but I also realised I might have been one of the few out here who's actually giving him this time because for others he might have to deal with strict deadlines and other time restrictions. So have I been to laid back the whole period or are some people out here demanding to much from our friend?

Think its good to realise our friend Eric is not a Toy casting company and he's doing it to help us out without charging insane amounts IMHO to make a lot of profit for himselve, because that's the least I'd conlcude. And from his point of view I can understand that in case your in need of money and you might have misunderstood an agreement on a certain fig, casting up some more to sell looks like an option to do. But with the trust and the agreements we make and have with Mr. Nilla we should also be aware of the power we gave him because we also know he does have the skills to make an endless army of figures from your own exclusive sculpt. In the real world and with real toy complanies agreements like these about the copyrights and the protection of the design are covering a ton of pages simply because of the value such a single sculpt can represent and there is a reason for the cast to be destroyed the moment the agreed production run has been produced and I think that's a good thing because a deal is a deal and eventhough the designer of the toy is in need of his figure to be mass reproduced it doesn't give the person or company resposible for these castings the right to reproduce these for own purposes. The caster does have a big task but I still think the biggest right does belong to the designer who has sculpted the figure from the beginning so that should always be the person to start from.

I'm not aware and neither have any insights in the situation Eric has positioned himself into according to the PlasticSoul and Ironmask projects but I get the feeling this might all have been the outcome of some of the things mentioned above. The designer demanding a certain amount of figs and with a decent quality resulting in a commission for Mr. Nilla because were a normal toy designer would have to approach a large toy company to have his/her idea mass produced we are in the exclusive position to have our friend Eric on board who has the skills to do almost the same thing if not better. But we also have the caster/artist, Eric in this case, who's responsible with the heavy task to deal with the original sculpt and the organistation as well as the eventuall casting process around it indirectly related to amounts, money flows, etc. And even it might be a few bucks for a single figure it can end up into pretty high amounts looking at the amount of casts produced so that in the end the differenct between a hobby and an actuall company might vanish due to all the mixed importance. Think this is were it might have gone wrong while Mr. Nilla wasn't even fully aware of it. But he knows he was wrong and made some mistakes and I'm 100% sure Eric will make it all up with the people he has harmed and hurt in this case as he is a good guy. So I hope in the end everything will work out fine and this was a wise lesson for all parties involved because in the big bad world outside the board things like these can be a lot worse or the chance of having a sculpt casted for a fair amount is not even realistic so with having guys like Eric on board we shouldn't forget their importance for LRG!

My project with Eric is and will continue running because I still trust in him even now knowing the mistake he made and hopefully all of his other friends out here will be able to forgive him in the end as well.

All the best for all who are involved!

If you want to blame somebody for no Hell Turtle or Deadface, blame me. In my imagination, those two are my Batman and Superman, and you will see more DF and HT in the future... Just not as a part of this initiative. For those of you pissed at that decision, that's on me. Feel free to pile on, you know, this week hasn't been difficult enough.

Thanks, Luke.

Seriously though... This whole thing has been incredibly difficult. I've lost sleep, because I was too bummed out, I have lost sleep because I was too damned angry.

Eric has agreed to terms to make good with the offended parties, and while I'm not going to explain all of the particulars or who all was involved... I'm just going to say that there was a lot more to the story, and I reserve judgement until this thing has played out.

I've been around for over ten years now, and I considered Eric a brother. This whole thing was a real kick to the balls.

This is extremely tough. I view you guys as friends, and have worked with most of you to some extent.

I have to say this though (and maybe I just have too much inside baseball) but this "apology" is fairly late coming. Also it has only come due to the fact that this IS ERIC'S LIVELYHOOD" and it was either come forward to the board, or be banned. So to praise him for coming forward is kind of like praising fallen fruit for succumbing to gravity. Taking into account that this "apology" is loaded with excuses as to why he ripped people off it starts to feel a whole lot less like an apology and more like someone taught Ironoak how to put words together & gave him some tact. There are also I believe a few more pissed down legs that haven't come forward for various reasons. But I guess since they weren't pushing back, no apology owed?

Eric... when you can read this... I care a lot for you, and have been happy to see things going well for you. I have always given you the benefit of the doubt when things looked a little off. When you would snatch up anything that came along I figured... well this is his one source of income and gave you the benefit of the doubt. Don't know if it matters much or not, but you have destroyed that trust. From here, it was all greed. Plain and simple. I truly hope you manage to pay everyone back and pull yourself out of this hole. But the broken trust is pretty much that. Broken. To some of us, that means way more than anything. The value of someone's word carries a lot of weight with me and maybe a few others.

I guess I just don't understand how this thread now reads like an "poor Eric" circle jerk.

I wish everyone the best of luck.
