How popular is the Kinnikuman series in Japan?

I don't think it's as popular as it once was, but as far as I know it was DBZ levels of huge in Japan during its heyday. I know they celebrate a holiday specifically for the series/character ("Kin Nikku", I forget what day and month that translates to).
I'd imagine these days it's still somewhat popular, maybe more of a self-contained audience of around 50,000 or so readers for every chapter. I'm completely guessing though.

It's pretty popular still since there is sponsorship on food and drinks still.
But I think it's more along the lines of it's been around forever, but I don't think it's trending or anything like that.
