I have been considering getting atleast the first comic to give the series a try. However, I have not been able to make up my mind yet. I just hate not to give a Battle Beast product a try.

Try it! There are only 4 issues so if you don't like it its not like you have sunk a lot of money into a large series.

if you aren't worried about how perfect the comics are go here:
Mile High Comics
They have all the comics for $1 at fair condition. Heck, even the Near mint prices can't be argued with!

I bought my #1 off of ebay some years ago, and shortly thereafter I found #3 at my local comic shop (they sold it to me at cover price!!!).

Anyways, I had to buy issues 2 & 4 off of mile high comics and I got them for around $5.00 or so with shipping and they were in great condition.

I've done business with them a few times over the years and they've been great everytime, so if anyone's thinking about buying off of them, I'd suggest it.

I have been considering getting atleast the first comic to give the series a try.

Believe me, they are well worth the cost just because it gives a setting for the figs! Just don't be expecting some in-depth comic with dramatic moralistic issues...it is simple with a simple story line for children. It's B&W too.

If NOTHING else they are worth the money for the display purposes!

At last I have made up my mind to give the comics a try. However, if when I do I do not like them I will hold everyone here who has advised me to get them accountable. By accountable I mean when I am done your Battle Beast collections will look like bone yards. hahahahahaha, you know who you are, and I will be coming. So you had better hope that they are worth it.

Well we have the first 18 issues outlined out with an option to bring in a couple of the Transformers. It wouldn't follow the US contunity most likely, but would draw from the Headmasters cartoon.

Are you guys still working on this? I was thinking about it and wondering where you guys are at?

You wouldn't believe how excited I'd be to have a new comic series on them!

Anyhow, just wonderin.......

Greetings y'all,

I just bought the BB comics set #1-#4 from Eaon. I am a huge BB junky, of course, and I also collect several comic titles. On top of that, I am a sucker for B&W art...

However, I was surprisingly disappointed with the comics overall. :D "Sparse" is a word that comes to mind in regard to them. I love all of the slogans, packaging, poster, and mysteries that the line has offered so far, but I feel that the comics don't hold up in comparison. They make the toy-line seem more kiddy to me. I would agree they could be used for display purposes, but I personally prefer the art and logos from the actual toy packages, and the BB and LB posters.

Shucks, this is the first BB product I am not thrilled with. :) If anyone would like to buy my set, they are available.

Don’t let me piss on your parade! If you dig the comics, I’m glad. They’re just not to my personal taste. ;)

While I have to agree with you JohnnyPac that these are very kiddish and not as interesting as the other Battle Beast stuff, but I have to say that I still really enjoyed them. I sort of just took them with a grain of salt. I just loved looking for the various different Battle Beasts, seeing them in action. And I'll still read all of them from time to time. The storyline that I have had since I was a kid for my Battle Beasts has always been quite a bit serious, that I almost enjoy a more goofy story for them from time to time. I especially love the full page profiles in the back of the comics, starting with issue 2.

My only complaint would be that I would have prefered if the comics would have been in color, but I understand that the publisher was pretty low budget, so they probably didn't have the money for it.

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy them. I am sure someone who's starting up who needs the whole collection will be quick to take yours off your hands.

Yeah, I actually think color would have made a huge difference in the quality. I suppose my biggest complaint is that big poop monster that they were fighting seemed super lame. I don't think introducing new charactors was the greatest move. Oh well! I do admit they have they're fun moments too. :)

I liked them when I was a kid, which was the target audience. I even expanded the story after they got canceled. I still have the books I drew packed away somewhere back home.

I actually spoke to the producer of these a while back and he said tha Hasboro never gave them any background on the BB line at all..... He had to come up with the story line in a week or so without any background, they just shipped him a complete set (1-88) plus a couple variants and said write something...

He said that it had literally been dropped on his desk, and that he really wished he had known about the TF connection, that it would have made all the difference in the world...

They had a ton more ready to produce, but sadly Blackthorne tanked and nobody else wanted to pick up the line...

I agree with the color thing, they just went the cheapest route.

So that's where you were getting your information from that you were posting about the comic series a long time ago now!

You never did follow up on that thread (its buried somewhere around here! ).

Anyways, how'd you find the guy? What other little nuggets of info did he share with you? Hell, has he checked out the site?

I don't know if he's checked it out yet. To be honest I need to call him again, he's the coolest guy!

He was so amazed that I was able to track him down....afterall it was such a small project for him compared to other stuff he had done.....it took calling a dozen guys whith the same name to find him, but it was worth it. I still have his # in my desk, which is in storage right now, but now that the cat's out of the bag I'll have to give him a call again!

I tried to track down Andy Ice also, the artist for the comics, but he has proven to be far more elusive.

Yeah, the script to issue 1 is done and my slow arse cousin is penciling it  We are thinking about finding someone to ink it and to color it since those are our weakest areas. But, yeah I have about 24 issues planned so far. I was thinking about posting the scripts, but the cuz didn't go for that idea.

However I was thinking about redoing the original 4 comics with my art and then maybe continuing that story as a side project........I would need help with the inking and coloring still. Anyone up for it?
