Why the blue Jaguar and black Mole?

Does anyone even have a guess why these two figures were produced in different colors than the originals? Unlike the orange Gorilla, they were not packaged outside of a two pack. So why the switch in colors, when did it occur and have you ever seen either moc?

i remember having them both as a kid, so i know i had to have picked them up in a 2 pack. but as far as why goes only takara has the secret.
