I happened to notice a box of Series 2 at Toys R Us today. I wasn't even aware of them because I'm not big on Transformers, so I hadn't paid any attention to this thread or anything else on them. But I noticed how cool Sharkticon looked on the checklist, and it took me about a minute to find a pack that I was pretty sure had him in it. It did! Not sure I'll be going after any others, but I really like this guy.

Not a bad price considering that they are 2-2.50 plus tax at a store.

Edit: Toys R Us raised the price to 3 bucks now.

Sharkticon is my favorite, I have a nice army of 5 of them. I would love to take the paint of but nervous that it won't come off all the way.

Welcome to Club Sharkticon.

I won't be removing the paint on these because I rather like the paint apps on this figure.  Who knows, I might try to strip one afterall.  To see the ones that I did take the paint off of, go back up a few posts, I added four photos and lots of details.

Yeah, the paint doesn't bother me on Sharkticon, really. The other ones you posted look cooler unpainted. I like that lobster.

Nice collection! Here's mine...let me know if you do try to remove the paint. Seems like a lot to remove.

Well, I took the paint off of a Sharkticon.  This was a real pain in the butt.  The silver teeth came off easily, the eyes were not difficult, and the red on the tongue was a bit of a challenge but was achievable with lots of toothpicks and q-tips around the teeth.  The big challenge was the dark gray paint all down the backside.  This color was really adhered like no other.  Anyway, I alternated periods of scrubbing vs soaking with the translucent Gormiti shown.  Total time exposed to the paintbrush cleaner was over 1.5 hours.  I was a little concerned with prolonged exposure because I know, first hand, that this solvent will completely dissolve hard ABS plastic like Legos and Gogos.  1.5 hours, however, did not compromise the integrity of either of these rubber figures in any way.

I spent over 1.5 hours on the two, so easily 45 minutes or more on the Sharkticon.  I had it to a point where it would have taken a nice black or gray wash (or "dip") in maybe 20 or 25 minutes.  In many ways, I think a simple wash brings out the details on mono figures.  But I really wanted to get it to a point where there was zero evidence of having ever been painted, so that took some extra time and close attention to detail. I mean, this sucker is bare. It is definitely a mono mini now!

I was going to try a couple more experiments, but sadly I spilled the whole bottle (like 3 oz) of paintbrush cleaner. Doh!

Thanks guys.  I would probably trade the completely paintless Sharkticon for 3 regular ones.  ;)

I was thinking, a G1 repaint would not be so bad.  I wouldn't have to take the gray off the back.  Recolor the eyes, the inside of the mouth, and add some aqua or teal to the arms.

On a whim I picked up one of these guys yesterday - got Soundwave. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I'm impressed! The hard PVC is nice, and the minimal paint apps don't bother me. Will definitely be grabbing more - if anyone has doubles they're getting rid of I could buy or trade for them (other toylines).

Courtesy of Jimmy I've got my hands on these FINALLY. Still haven't seen them in retail, which I suppose is good because I'd buy them all.

I really am loving them.

Do we know that last bit for a fact or are you just assuming?

I said “might”. Steve was giving away shit in trades and mentioned here before his health troubles before going completely radio-silent. Was never the most stable individual around here either...

It's true that Steve has been inactive for well over a year. To my knowledge, he just disappeared from the boards altogether and nobody, as far as I know, ever spoke with him outside the boards.

He wasn't shy about his problems, that's for sure. Assuming that he was being truthful, it is likely that he isn't returning to LRG.

Say what you want about the guy, but I enjoyed him on the boards. He absolutely was an eccentric dude, but it was usually a pleasure. I miss that guy!
