From my MUSCLE history, I know that Mattel tried to cash in on the small figure concept again by releasing CUTIE figures targetted at girls. I also know, from cruising eBay, that you can get a lot of those figures for fairly little money.

That got me wondering if anybody here collects CUTIE figures, or has any interesting further informationa bout them. The sculpts seem really uninteresting, but I thought perhaps some avide MUSCLE fans might have them just for completeness' sake.

I collect them! :) I'm not a MUSCLE fan, but I had a bunch of CUTIEs when I was a kid (comes with the price of being a little gay child I guess), and I've since started collecting them again. The faces are not well sculpted, but there are some interesting designs among the lot. I like them mainly for nostalgia, though. My favorites are the weightlifter girls, as they seem to be pretty thick which is unusual for figurines.

I've got a full set of sculpts in an even split across the five colours. Pretty cheap to pick up, I grabbed them as a single lot for under £25 posted. Pretty happy just sticking to those and not going mad trying to chase colours.

This line would have been much better had it utilized the GLOW (Georgous Ladies of Wrestling) License to give it some variety

My wife collects them. She's trying to hunt down a master set in all the colors. So far she knows each sculpt comes in more then 1 color. Some she has found come in 4 or 5 of the colors released. They were five colors total released. She's still not sure if all scupts come in all of the five colors but she's pretty sure they do.

I got a baggie of these hanging out in my junk drawer.. if you want to toss me a few bucks to make sure it covers shipping they are yours... not sure if it is any that you need but it will clear up some space for me :p

That was a joke from the last time a topic about these gals came up. I kind of ran with it.

And you don't think that owed partly to the difference between the lines? The MUSCLE sculpts are really good, and quite varried in an interesting way. Even the colors were more varried and striking. If the CUTIE line had had the same feature (say, featureing well sculpted anthropomorphic animals in fashionable atire and occasionally an accessory with arms and legs) it might have faired better?

i don't think sculpt strength has anything to do with it really....it seems that girls never really got into the mono, non articulated, figures  crazy enough to keep the line afloat....even if they were fantastic......just my opinion though

I agree, I don't think sculpt strength had anything to do with it.

If you take the time to look at the sculpts some of them were quite clever. It quite scandalous that they were able to get away with what they did for a little girls toy line? Terry Cloth literally has a towel as her outfit and nothing else.

My favorite Cutie was the Girl in the boxing gloves, while wearing a skirt.   It just looked like something from a Street Fighter Game or something.  Those Musician sculpts are all really cool too.  Wonder why then didn't make the figures in flesh color but instead went with the hot pink?
