Edit: Looks like you can also buy a complete case of 15 cans that comes with the 8 figures shown above in this thread all for 2,500円. That is really a pretty good price for all that coffee and figs to boot.

You know, it's hard to believe that something in pop culture has had such a strong hold on the people of an entire country for so many decades, and so much so that so many canned and packaged treats have these characters stamped on them so regularly.

Have we had anything like that aside from maybe Star Wars? Even then, it has to be a special SW occasion for it to happen.

Yup. Go up to some random person and go "Here. Have some coffee." And then walk away with your figure.

Two people's day become... mildly improved, or if they don't like coffee either, slightly more annoying.

You all make really good points. Pokka is like the Coca Cola of canned coffee in Japan - it is everywhere. The artwork on these were personally created by Yudetamago, which is a big deal for food items. I would have to compare it to something like Star Wars that has had such staying power, and seems to appeal to a wide cross section of the Japanese consumer.

I few people have been tweeting some sweet subway/train advertising powers for the Kinnikuman Pokka campaign - I would love to get a hold of one of those bad boys. I will see if I can dig up a pic or two.

My local Japanese market sometimes stocks Pokka Coffee - I need to give them a ring and see if they are going to carry the Kinnikuman special cans.

i just got a bunch of stuff off yahoo japan that is in the mail now. i think after christmas i am going to go after all these pokka figures i am missing

i have a ton of cool keshi coming. two unmasked muscleman, a tourney satan cross, super-rare version of dr. bonbe in keshi, a few original keshi claws... i am really happy. anyone looking for a good proxy bidder, i would HIGHLY recommend shopping mall japan. the fees have been a ton less than what people are telling me for rinkya and a few others. pm me if you want details

Just a heads up to anyone buying these with the liquid intact. You will have to have the bidding service empty the can out before they shipped. Noppin said that they aren't allowed to ship liquid overseas.
