I believe that's Mega Construx Break Out Beasts. It has armor, spikes and what not that pop in those holes. Comes in an egg, with slime

The face reminds me of Digimon Garurumon. But it's missing a bunch of it's markings. And that it has thumbs. What's weird about this figure is that it has arms for it's legs...
