I felt this would be a neat thread of interest for here, since I've seen a few Anpanman keshi pop up here and there.
But, for those that don't know, Anpanman is a juggernaut of a franchise in native Japan. Starting as a storybook in 1973, then a strip-style manga series in 1975, before finding its current home as an anime starting in 1988 and running to this day. We're talking thousands of episodes, movie-every-year kind of huge for this franchise. It even has its own museums and won the Guinness World Record for Most Named Characters in a Cartoon, with 1,768 at the counting date.
...Sadly, the West never really "got" it. The only place you can buy merch for it is Japanese import stores and that like if you don't traverse the secondary market. Heck, the parody of Anpanman made it to the west before the original did, that's One Punch Man. Or, you just might know the series because K-Pop group BTS has a song called "Anpanman".
But, for the first time ever, despite being such a franchise in Japan, Anpanman is coming to the west in English!
Streaming service Tubi, the one recently bought by Fox, is dubbing six Anpanman movies in both English and Spanish! I'm honestly stoked for this. This is a franchise I love, even without really understanding the language, and so it's great to see it actually coming here for the first time!
I specifically mention the West because there was an English dub in India once that is now lost media. But yeah, hope this gets some interest, and maybe brings more people to like the series, since I certainly love the keshi I've seen around here for the brand!
