New to the board but longtime fan.
Anyway, as a follow up to jkaris' excellent review of the new Nisei/Ultimate Muscle 15 packs, I've got a rundown on the $3 card and mystery micro muscle packs.
First off, the 10 card packs are blister carded with a folded playmat and cardboard insert to hide the mystery muscle. The figure is bagged inside the blister.
Unlike in the 15 packs he figures seem to be really randomly packed.
I got 5 packs w/ the Terry Kenyon package and got the following figures in clear red:
Mantaro/Kid Muscle
Broken Jr. (Legend version)
Appolon Man (doubles)
Namul
(apologies for the photo quality, my camera has trouble with clear stuff...)
I didn't see some of these on jkaris' list from the 15 packs, so it looks like the mystery figures for the card packs are random and not necessarily just from the first series.
They do say "series one" on the package, so perhaps the series breakdowns are different for the 15packs and card packs.
I hope to get some more soon, as I am curious if there are any other colors, gold, silver or painted ones in these card packs.

Welcome to the board! Thanks for the review. I didn't know these packs were part of the lineup until now. I'll have to keep an eye out for them. Do you happen to know anything about the card game rules?

I haven't played the game yet (don't have enough cards
But I read the rules and it seems to be a combination board game/cardgame.
You place stacks of cared on the playmat and move a micro muscle around.
You basically get to pic up cards if you pass over a deck and you fight your opponent if you land on the same space.
Cards are Super Wrestler cards (your active and backup fighters) and assist or technique cards you use to enhance your abilities or reduce damage.
Some cards tell you to flip over or stand or lie down your micro muscle, but I can't see what game effect this has.
Overall though, the game doesn't seem overly simplified (the way Bandai butchered the US version of the Gundam CCG.)
And you can theme a deck to a specific faction (Muscle League, dMp) or "family". For example Robin and Kevin Mask get bonuses for their family moves (Tower Bridge, etc) just as Suguru and Mantaro do. So ther probably is a decent amount of strategy and deck building.
Hopefully I can get some more cards and actually play it but it looks promising.
Anyting that lets you "play" with muscles can't be all bad, eh?

I got my Card Packs at Wal Mart in Oceanside, California (near San Diego.)
I got some more over the weekend (another 18 packs) bringing my total to 23 packs.
Here's what I got:
Blocken Jr (2 blue, 1 red)
Curry Cook (1 blue, 1 red)
Goregeousman (1 blue, 1 red)
Wally Tusket (1 blue, 1 red)
Kid Muscle pose 1 (1 blue, 1 red)
Kid Muscle pose 2 (1 blue, 1 red)
Apollon Man/Mercury (1 blue, 2 red)
Namul (1 blue, 2 red)
Sunshine (1 blue, 1 red)
Kevin Mask (1 blue, 1 red)
Interesting note:
Some of the figures are molded in multiple parts, for better detail. (Blocken Jr.'s Legs are glued into his coat, the top of Wally's head and Kid Muscle's hair and arm in 1 pose as well.)
I'm curious as to how many packs come in 1 full case.
My guess would be perhaps 24? My 23 all came from the same store, and the figures were so evenly distributed (few doubles and I got at least 1 of each character I've seen so far in both red and blue.)

Thank God none of you guys are shopping where I live. I'd like to have a CHANCE at getting some of the new figures.I got al 24 case fresh from a Wal-Mart today.
If I see a guy clear out the shelves of Ultimate Muscles, leaving me with nothing, he just may get a spitwad upside the back of the head.
Immature? Maybe. But damn, it would feel good.

At $2.46 per pack, including a figure, these things are going to be HUGE! YuGiOh will be next in line to fall.
Pokemon, Digimon, YuGiOh, Kinnikuman, ???

Yeah, you're right... but I'd still be bitter. Just keep in mind that if you shop for Ultimate Muscles in central VA, keep your eye out for spitwads.C'mon Nate....buying a case is the most cost efficient of getting all 20 figures.
"Hey... is that Johnny with a case of Ultimate Muscles? SHOOT HIM DOWN BEFORE HE GETS TO THE CASH REGISTER!"
Although I wouldn't get any Ultimate Muscles, it sure would be fun!
And I hope that Ultimate Muscles lasts longer than Yugioh! How long has that show been around, less than a year?
