I'm looking to start selling some old Duel Masters TCG cards from about 10 years ago. I'd like to know if there is a preferred way to ship them. These are more on the high end. The ones I'll be putting up will be going between $10 and $60 each. I have penny sleeves and top loaders for the card's safety. But is there anything else? I thought about taping the top of the top loader but that could ruin the holder.(make it sticky) What about securing it more in the shipping envelope? Should I use small plastic baggies?

If anyone has any experience in this, I'd be happy to get some suggestions.

My I recommend checking them on sites like troll and toad? they specialize in cards. most of the time old cards are worth cents on the dollar, unless they were much sought after, or unusual, such as misprints or errors.

thats all I know on the subject. Hope it helps.

I'll check it out. I'm using a Finish site for a price guide. DM is only getting new sets in Asia. It rivals Magic and YuGiOh over there. They only went up to set 12 here in NA. It's considered a dead game since.(in NA) But certain cards are worth plenty I think because they didn't reprint. And some cards they did, were given out exclusively at invitational events. I have some of those sought after cards. And it seems the later the set, the more it's worth. Maybe because they didn't have a chance to make as many as the previous sets before the game died.

Checked that Trollandtoad site while typing this and they have nothing for Duel Masters. I originally went to the Pojo forums. I use to go there when I was into YuGiOh competitively. That's where I was directed to the Finish site.

Lack of reprints do help sales.. I thought for sure trollandtoad would have a section on them, but I was mistaken. seems most of my advice you are already doing. good luck on this.

I've sold plenty of Magic and Pokémon cards before. I've actually been using something close to the below method for some time before the Professor made this handy YouTube video to show how it's done, it's basically foolproof to all but the most catastrophic mail screwups.

I didn't think of using a small piece of paper taped to the top loader. That's a great tip. The invitation envelopes look to be the best for single cards.

Will the post office give tracking on small envelopes like that? I know for a fact that I'll want tracking on any I sell because of how much they're worth.

Thanks for the video. I still cringed at the fact he put two cards in one sleeve.  >-<

I can second Baltan that the method in the video, the paper over the top & tape over that, is perfect. I know you mentioned the tape ruining the top loader and yes that may happen. But a top loader is basically 10 cents. That is kind of its purpose, to get ruined instead of ruining the card.

I don't use normal envelopes and I don't think you can get tracking on them?  Lots of the huge magic dealers do use normal envelopes to ship, since 99% of the time it is ok and they ship so much that the savings adds up to way more than the occasional mess up costs them. But there is some risk in a normal envelope method, as Baltan said, to catastrophic issues. I have seen it a few times. However, I have probably bought and sold in excess of ten thousand cards and I may have seen catastrophic issues in a normal envelope 3-4 times.

I buy bulk bubble loaders off of ebay at basically nine or ten cents each I think, by bags of 50 or so.  I ship those USPS first class with free tracking and it costs me $2.60 per envelope I believe. I would rather pay a bit more for the tracking and shipping and nice envelope and know 100% I am protected. USPS can get angry about rigid things in normal envelopes since they have machine sorters, and if it gets chewed up in a normal envelope (rarely) USPS won't be sympathetic.

Typically 2 cards per sleeve is no problem. I always do 2 cards per sleeve and toploader when I sell playsets and I have never once had an issue.  I would not recommend going above 2 cards though.  Three can be ok with care and patience, but I never do four.

Thank you for the input. I already have bought a bag of 100 bubble envelopes. They cost about $11. The penny sleeves and top loaders cost about $8 for 100 of each. I think that's what I'll be using just for added protection.

Now to find time to take pictures and posting the cards...

Everyone's suggestions and input is greatly appreciated.
