Only markings are "China" on one foot and "2002" on the other.. fully articulated except for the head.

I thought the same, but I'm unable to find the playset or theme that this character was sold under. Plus the heads of imaginext are usually articulated so I'm stumped..

What little info I found in my cursory search is that he’s from a 2003 fantasy set with a little reptile and a snake woman, but yes, Imaginext.

Could you link to an image? I was about to rule out imaginext due to the scale being way off and the lack of the signature (i)

Maybe a line that preceded imaginext before the design aesthetic settled into what it is now...

Older Imaginext figures from the beginning of the line are scaled more along the lines of this fellow, and the skinny pirate skeletons they made then. It was not until around the time that they started producing the DC comics figures that they changed to the current model.

I am certain that he is Imaginext, but checklists of all the earlier figures seem to be in short supply. I will look for a pic. I beleive BaltanII is right about him coming with a playset. They made a few really cool ones at that time.

I suppose the line went through some tweaking in between before settling on the standard size they offer now.

Thanks @Rubberhammer @BaltanII and @McCTXtoys the 411, appreciate the help.
