Yes, it is perfectly legal, yes it happens all the time, but it is annoying as hell.

http://cgi.ebay.com/...tegory=348&rd=1

Another auction ended early because of a person who got the seller to sell aside from eBay.

If this was someone on the board, PLEASE DO NOT tell us who it was, so we don't start another flame war.

But really, it IS annoying.

And for what? A Satan Cross??? This would've been slightly more understandable about a year ago. Who am I kidding...six months ago.

I wonder how much that person ended up paying the seller. Had to be a good amount, since it made him close the bidding.

The last topic got locked before I could throw in my two cents. I think those that have been here for awhile saw how extremely pissed I was about the last "big" auction that got closed early. I have forgiven the culprit only because I like him and because he was a veteran of the board. But those that were here know how I feel about this kind of stuff. I say win it fair and square, don't cheat other people out of a chance to win it. If I were interested in this auction, I would feel pretty much raped by a friend. I assume it was a member of the board. I agree don't announce yourself, but know it is frowned upon. If you are going to cheat your friends, how do you expect to build a bond and kinship with them. I respect and like most all of you, but stuff like this makes me think we have some shady members. Plus Satan cross is a dime a dozen which is why I am not too mad about this, but it is also why you should bid like anyone else. I almost feel like I have to email every seller of auctions I am interested in just to tell them not to cut it early. I hope it does not come to that.

I was very worried for quite some time that this sort of activity would be the death of the forums .

i agree with doc you cannot form a bond with people you do not trush

and the word your looking for doc is "mateship"

Son of a motherless goat this is pinheaded.

When I first started using ebay in '98 to get M.U.S.C.L.E. men I would contact a seller sometimes to try and get it to end early. I haven't done it in years. If it is a newbie to ebay it is kinda understandable.

Since the lot hat SC in it, it is doubtful that the person was a newbie. From now on if you see an auction you like bid on it. If you are the high bidder I don't think they can cancel teh auciton without your permition or at least the other guy being the high bidder.

Nope, a seller can cancel any auction at any time as long as there is more than 24 hours remaining.

That is crap.

Yet if you want to cancel a bid there is a bunch of crap to go through.

Considering that the auction ended a short while after I posted it in the Satancross Sightings thread, I'm guessing that it was a member of this board who snagged it early and convinced the seller to end the auction. I used to be so excited when something rare popped too, but its better to let the auction run its course. Then again, I guess its all up to the seller in the end. But it still kinda sucks for everyone else.

Everbody knows how I feel about this kind of crap.
Why must these punks cheat?
If the person who I think did this again actually is still pulling off the stunts, he or she should be banned from the boards. These stunts are effing lame as hell.
But what if somebodys brother just got put in the hospitol or has a birthday in a few days?
Bullcrap people, play fair!
