Hi, I posted about this on this forum a long time ago, but I was one of the three winners of the design a figure contest FoP held nearly fifteen years ago. I created Strawk the Scarecrow, and won a lot of goodies as my prize.

Here's an image of the drawing I sent in, next to the professional redesign that I received as part of my prize. Fun fact: I only gave Strawk a mace because I remember that one of the rules was that your design HAD to hold a weapon for some reason. I'm not sure where the fireball came from either, but I have to give the credit to the artist for correctly interpretating my awful attempt at a plaid shirt and dungarees.

The main prize however was the display case that came with a hyper colouration of every figure from series 1, including an unnumbered Xar. I didn't get the three secret figures however (which I only learned existed just now), but maybe they weren't in circulation at that point.

I'm also probably gonna say something thats gonna make a ton of you guys mad now. But I was just a kid when I got the display case however, and naturally I wanted to play with the figures, so I took one of my dad's screwdrivers so I could take em out of their little holes, and managed to put three holes in the thing in the process. The only pronounced one can be seen next to the octopus guy, but there's another sizable hole behind one of the warlords too.

I also did an interview for the FoP website way back in the day however, but I'm afraid that it may have been lost forever. I've tried my best to find it using old internet archive sites, but I've had no luck. If any of you guys could somehow dig it up I would really love it. I wanna know what stupid things I told them.

I've got an archive of the five e-newsletters that Moose sent out for FoP but unfortunately the only interview they happen to include is for the kid that created Combustor, whatever that looks like (pics did not save with it as they were all linked from the defunct website). No idea if the website was archived anywhere!

That's a pretty awesome contest for them to have. I would have given your character a pitchfork or scythe. Matches the whole scarecrow/crop concept. Still really cool. Reminds me of the way I drew as a child. To bad they didn't make you a figure of your character.

I remember your design, really dug it. I won the first contest with a gorilla concept named Gorr (this was before series 2 and Goranga). I didn't get my character designed but got the arena, crystal Cowl, etc before they were available in the US.

So stupid that moose screwed holes in all figues in the display case. The plastic is also thin, brittle and weak manufactured. Really disappointing.

Really awesome story! I always wondered what the winners of the design contest got! I also dig the design and agree with fisheye, though the flail is sick too. I feel like the fireball ties the figure with its story though.

And Im pretty sure we all drew like that when we were kids. Ill have to dig up my terrible FOP drawings sometime

Its stories like this which make me really wish they continued on with series three. I could totally imagine digging through packs to try and find a Strawk!
