Again honestly, considering just how long it is taking the sculptor to finish up all sixteen monsters and make them available, I can understand why some people would be hesitant to commit to anything but the full set of 16. People will wonder how many more years it will take to get the full set, and might wonder if it will actually happen.

Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of this project but a lot of people will just want one full set of 16, in regular MIMP style, random colors. The vast majority of people will not care about having multiple colors of each figure, golden versions on bases, fancy storage boxes (as nice as they are) - or most importantly, they will not care to buy just 4 then wait many years to wait for the remaining 12 to complete their set.

I do not mean to offend the sculptor or GormTransMonsters, and personally I will support the project however I can and I will be patient. But I think realistically, for the project to succeed, we need more than just the diehard collectors here. We need LOTS of casual fans to pledge. And I honestly think the only way to guarantee that is to offer all 16 figures at the same time. Just how I see it.

I hope I am wrong though and that we will get enough pledges even if it's just 4 monsters. But if it doesn't reach the goal, I would suggest waiting till all 16 monsters are ready to be produced, then try the Kickstarter again?

Personally I’d prefer all 16 to drop at once, but in terms of that helping the Kickstarter, I’m not sure it would, in particular for casual or new collectors. I can’t see someone who’s not big into MIMP paying around £96 for 16 figures. If there’s going to be a Kickstarter for each of the sets of 4 figures, then obviously if there’s a similar high goal to reach it’s going to struggle each time. Ideally, Fede should take the sculpts and either cast homepage or work with someone who can cast them for him as cheap as possible. The biggest expense from his side of course is getting the original artist to sculpt these etc. That would’ve been pricey to say the least.

The tooling and minimum run is the biggest cost but Id take them hand made and im sure most casual collectors would as well if it meant bringing the price down.

I've been out of the collecting bubble for sometime but this is really an amazing development.
Fede is a legend for seeing this through to fruition. I've backed the Kickstarter at the highest
level. This is such a unique situation it's hard not to invest and honour the commitment to this
project.

Although I can see the concerns with the amount of money that needs to be generated
to even get this to become a reality. Are there that many active MIMP collectors who would
support this?

It’s not seeming like it, sadly. Only 7% funded and three weeks left doesn’t seem like a reality at this point. I would like to see the project succeed as much as any other collector but I don’t think it will reach its goal. There doesn’t seem to be a large enough pool of interested collectors. 40,000 is a lot to ask for with so few to pitch in. I honestly thought this thing would take off.

I really think more people would be interested if all 16 figures were offered at the same time

Maybe if it doesn’t reach its funding goal it will kickstart again for all 16 figures.

I’m not entirely sure if the remaining figures are all fully sculpted yet and ready to be produced anyway. Things seem to be stuck at the £2k mark and have been for a couple of days. No chance of this happening now, which is a shame because I, like other MIMP collectors, really want the figures. Such a shame the initial cost that Fede came up against has pretty much killed the project in the long run.

Yea with twenty days to go and only 2,500 euros pledged its not gonna happen. There haven’t been any new pledges and even if there were it would require multitudes at this point.

This doesnt need a kickstarter but was given one. One thing that I will never understand is kickstarters for home made projects that require no upfront money only an investment of ones time. Mini figures like this are produced daily by regular folk.

I think you’ve missed out on some of the key details (issues) with this project - it’s not a homemade project, the guy commissioned an original MIMP sculptor to sculpt these “missing” figures and, as you can imagine, it wasn’t cheap and by the sounds of things got out of hand in part. A big chunk of the Kickstarter seems to be potentially recouping costs, as well as getting the figures produced.

A listing for nothing? A link to advertise? Yeah, probably not.

This would be the main reason I would expect this project not to fund.Historical behavior of the main driving force.

Listings for nothing are definitely against eBay policy.

Oy vey! 800 Aussie dollars for the set!!

Would love them...but that's out of my range.

I really hope you manage to get these minis out Gorm. I've been following the project for a few years & really appreciate all the work you have put in. I wish things had been easier for you.

I backed the kickstarter, but it's not looking good.   :(

So, since the Kickstarter failed. Is this project done or will there be anything coming anyhow?

I sure hope at least a little something will come out of this. Personally I haven't invested in the project, but have followed it's progress and what's been said about it on here. I'd REALLY love to see the fruits of the sculptor's labour after all this time. Eight years passed by already??

I often wondered if he'd even make the figures differ slightly from that of their Argentine trading card images like what happened with some originals (e.g. Gremlin and Winged Panther).

All this sounded very promising way back in 2011 and would've expected it to be complete by now. But again, as with everything it always boils down to costs and customer demand. If there were twice as many die-hard collectors out there with deeper pockets willing to chip in, this could've been a reality long before now. It's a shame he couldn't quite match the original Olive Green colour of Shreddies either, that will have been nice to see. :)

What material is he using to cast these in anyway, is it hard plastic or soft rubber? They kinda look Big Boy-ish style plastic to me.

I'd throw a bunch of money into this project and honestly, I even thought about sculpting my own versions of the missing monsters as well as making new MIMPS based on my own fav mythical creatures. Sadly, I don't have the means to produce rubber figures ...but I'd be interested in such a project.
