Does this figgy look familiar to anyone? Has "TAIWAN" on the back.

Gumball machine bootleg, I had him as a child and may have even sold him off with my muscle collection a couple years back.

Do you think the sculpt is an "original" creation or literally bootlegged from the sculpt of another toy line.

Well it was in gumball machines at the same time muscle packs were in stores or shortly thereafter, definitely still the 80's and the resemblance to muscle is readily apparent so I would guess an original figure meant to imitate but that's complete speculation on my part.

I found the pic of the lot I sold on eBay with this guy but I must apologize for the quality of the pic as it's just a zoomed out shot of the whole lot. There's a good chance someone from the forum here won the lot (maybe they'll recognize it from the picture) and could give you a better photo. The top 5 figures in the far left row were from the same gumball series with your figure being the one on top.

I'm thinking he is an original creation. There were quite a lot of original Gumball figs back in the day. I have a few odd looking muscle size figures, that in no way could have been from an actual toy line.
