OK I'm not a collector of these figures but I came across this article just now and thought those fans of the figures may want to check it out.

If its anything like the original one, it'll be dire. But heres the link anyway:

Interesting! Is GPK actually popular again? I know they currently sell the cards, but I didn't think kids were actually that into it like they were back in the day. At least enough to lead to a new movie. I remember renting the old on on VHS when I was a kid. I think I thought it was pretty bad in a somewhat entertaining way.

Yeah I watched the original a couple of years back and it was terrible, hopefully itll be better but the concept really doesnt work for a movie.

I kinda remember the original but not enough to tell ppl what happened (its been a while) but a new film pretty cool. Directors are in their droves remaking films from back in the day (Robocop, Total Recall, Poltergeist & I even heard Flight of the Navigator is thinking of been remade, now that was one film that has really stuck with me. I think that even now you could easily watch that film & the effects stand up to todays standards) Well I guess its like the generation before us, films always get redone and are always compared to the ones that went before. My Dad always says that nearly every film that comes out 'Yep thats been done before'..... hmmmm okay Dad..... But sometimes he's right.

rumor down the grapevine is yes they will sell new figures in 2012. they could be plastic figures or could be eraser type figures. they just released a magnet set, they are fresh off flashback 3, and they have an all new series 8 coming up in a few months for their cards.

Wow, when I made that post I kind of thought it was a far-fetched idea. That's awesome that new figures are being rumored!

also gang, the gpk book just released......similar to the wacky packages book, and features the first 5(i think) gpk card series. retail is around 12ish dollars, interesting pickup for those just wanting to remember the cards, without having to sink big bucks into them all
