Seems as if prices have gone out-of-control but NOTHING is moving. There have been lots on for weeks yet sellers don't seem to understand that nobody is going to pay their ridiculous prices.

Well, the BIN figures with super high prices (ex. $5.00 for an individual Flesh Figure) are really clogging up eBay.  It makes sense I guess, if I needed one figure to finish off my set I'd probably be willing to spend that amount just to be done.

I don't know if people who make the auctions are knowlegable enough to figure that out or if they just think they are worth that much.  Maybe it is just a matter of new sellers see that other people are doing it and price their figures comparatively to the overpriced BIN prices?  Many of the over priced BIN figures have been around for a long time.  There are multiple lots with high BIN prices that have literally been relisting for like two years now!

When I started this thread I was more or less observing the closing price per figure on actual auction lots and making note that decent condition figures were ending closer to $1 per figure than say, $0.50 per figure.  The standard "MUSCLE price" for lots of figures has always been, "they are worth about $0.50" each in lots.  But it seemed like they were tending to end closer to $1.00 each for an extended period of time.

The auction prices do seem to have come down a little bit lately.  I guess it must have just been a couple of people got the itch to buy a bunch of MUSCLES at the same time and were bidding things up against each other.  Funny how that happens.

I'll put my 2 cents in even though it's pretty much already been said.

Jon hit it on the head exactly when he stated it's a cycle - because the M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting community is so much smaller than say other toys of the time (Transformers/MOTU) the pricing cycles are much more noticeable - I've seen this happen a number of times, it honestly only takes 1 person with deep pockets (or 2) to drive up prices across the board.

Patience is the key

As a new collector of M.U.S.C.L.E. who has yet to obtain any figures, this is frustrating. Even the commons are sitting for high prices. There's no traction right now.  lol

There are actually a bunch of Flesh and color lots of 20-25 figures that went up end of last week with $0.99 starting bids.  Since there are so many of them you should be able to snag one or two for fairly cheap.  There are more actual "auctions" for figure lots on eBay right now than I remember there being in quite a while.  Since there is so much supply of items for sale chances are that it is a good time to win some stuff at a relatively low cost.  Just my two cents.  Cheers.
