This month has been golden for new bootleg toy discoveries from Korea. Was able to snag two bags of these bootleg figures. Sadly, there are only 4 sculpts in this set with 3 color variants. Not sure which series these correspond to in Japan, but I did happen to have two of the originals they were based on and took some comparison shots.

The worst part about this set is the smell though. Doing my best to clean them now, but the cardboard has a mold/mildew smell that seems impossible to remove. I wanted to keep one of them to hang in my room, but I;m not sure I can handle the smell. I'm wondering if laminating it will help hide the smell haha. For the time being, I have the cardboard in a plastic bag with a few fabric softener sheets.

Anyways, I only plan on keeping a pink set for myself. The rest will be up for grabs when I have the time to post in the sales thread.

Hope you guys get as much of a kick out of seeing these bootlegs as I do! Although I honestly hope nothing else pops up again because I need to friggin move soon!

try activated carbon for the smell. Not sure the availability of that in Korea, but if you can't find any for odor absorbing purpose specifically, it's used in aquarium filters, so you could buy some of those and dump them out, or sometimes you can just buy it in bulk jars at aquarium supply stores.

I had a horrid smell in my freezer one time that came from some poorly sealed sea bass and that was the only thing that made it go away. everything else essentially just masks the smell so you don't notice it as much.

for the record, baking soda for removing smells is a lie

oh, and nice finds ;)

Great advice. Thank you! :-)

Yea, I think I tried baking soda for something last year and it didn't really do much. The dryer sheets kind of do the same. They just mask the smell a little.
