I have to introduce you to this fantastic new minifigure line: Atomicron!

I got some of these in Spain last year, and I was super stoked to see they've finally made their way over to the UK!

I picked up a bunch this lunchtime and now that my camera has started playing nice again, will post some images later.

In the meantime, this will give you some idea:

They are tiny. The boss figures are MUSCLE sized-ish. The little guys are like 1/2"-3/4".

So, here's the lowdown. Atomicrons are split into 12 different tribes: 6 that pertain to matter, and 6 which correspond to each element's antimatter version!

Attached File  AtomicronTribes.jpg   272.78K   50 downloads

These are the figures I picked up in Spain last year: a deluxe army pack containing 12 figures. 1 general, 8 soldiers and 3 soldiers from the corresponding antimatter tribe, along with 1 superweapon, which has some kind of firing action that I could never work out.

Attached File  Atomicron pack.jpg   172.49K   41 downloads Attached File  Atomicron pack2.jpg   179.18K   28 downloads

The generals are substantially bigger than the soldiers, and have articulation in the arms and legs.

Now, you can also pick up an army pack, which includes 1 general and 6 soldiers. I haven't bought any of these, but probably will, as this seems like the best way to get antimatter figures (army packs are available for all 12 tribes, so far as I can gather).

Attached File  7pack.png   51.62K   32 downloads

What I did get was a couple of blind bags. Each blind bag contains 2 figures and a vehicle/accessory, or 4 figures. The mini vehicles and accessories appear to be exclusive to these blind bags.

Here's the big kahuna: a mega army pack containing 40 figures. The gold figures are exclusive to these mega army packs. Definitely one for the army builders.

I bought my figures from The Entertainer toy store, although I think they'll be available on Amazon UK soon. I got the feeling that they had literally only just been released this weekend because I didn't see them last week.

So far as I can recall, prices are: £2 for the blind bag. £5 for an army pack (general + 6 soldiers) . £10 for a deluxe army pack (general + 11 soldiers + weapon). £18 for a mega pack (general + 29 soldiers + 10 gold soldiers). Can't remember what the playsets or vehicles cost!

I really do like these. They remind me quite a lot of Spiral Zone, especially in the blind packs with the accessories, albeit on a much smaller scale.

Size wise, the soldier figures are slightly smaller than Fighter Pods, and made from the same material.

Attached File  atomicronvspods.jpg   197.05K   16 downloads

However, they definitely fit best with Fistful of Aliens! I always felt that Fistful of Aliens needed a proper enemy, and in Atomicron, they might just have found one.

It looks like some squads have 7 figures, some have 8, and some have 9.  Am I looking at that right?

Are the gold versions in the playsets and the 40 packs just repaints of regular figures?

It just looks to me like the 40 pack is full of duplicates with 10 random golds.

Are the gold figures from all squads or just among the squad in the package?

I'm just trying to figure out how many unique sculpts there are, and how many variants.

I picked up a whole unopened box of 20 Blind bags today this is what I got.

P1130081_zps35230363.jpg

This was all on the left size of the box

P1130086_zps4fe5faf5.jpg

This was the right side.

.The way they was packed is if you get a certain set the next pack behind it is the exact same set.

.The mini figure contents seems to be mostly identical for each pack layout.

.The Anti Mater mini figures are in different poses than from the battle packs

.The Red and Green Generals have no articulation and not plastic like the other four.

I love these. I have a small handful of the uranium ones, but I LOVE the fact that they come with little vehicles. I might have to clear out a section of my boxed up collection, to make room for these.

I too have been trying to work it all out, as the range of different packs available makes it a somewhat bewildering task.

As far as I can see, all squads, Matter and Antimatter, have 1 general and 7 different soldiers.

At least some of the Matter squads (maybe all?) have an eighth soldier, apparently in an alternate colour scheme, that appear to be available with the larger accessories, eg you can see in a photo above the silver Xenon figure that comes with the transforming vehicle.

The army packs, available for all 12 squads, contain 1 general and 6 soldiers. This means they don't contain one of the soldier figures. In all cases, this seventh soldier appears to be the prone soldier armed with a rifle.

Now, if you get the deluxe army packs, which are available for the 6 Matter tribes, you will get all 7 soldiers, plus 1 duplicate (plus 3 antimatter figures).

Buying the mega army pack, available for 4 of the Matter tribes, will also give you the 7 different soldiers, in fact you will get multiple copies of each soldier, plus 10 gold repaints. The gold repaints are indeed gold version from the same tribe as the other 30.

The pyramid playset includes 1 gold figure, but I'm unsure whether this is unique or identical to one of the gold repaints in the mega army packs.

If you've managed to follow the above, you'll probably realise that the 7th soldier from each of the Antimatter squads - the prone soldier with rifle - is unaccounted for. I believe these figures do exist, as most of them appear on the pamphlet. It's entirely possible that they may be available in blind bags, but that is a guess.

I see in some of your blind packs Acidonia that you got that seventh anti-matter soldier (prone with rifle) for a couple of the tribes (anti-Xenon and anti-Carbon?). That does indeed appear to be the only way to get those.

Meanwhile, here is something cool I picked up off eBay last week:

I looks like so far only way to get the Antimatter leaders is by the £5 6 packs though ive only got 4 of them so far. Most shops I got them from only had around 3 or 4 packs on the shelves Tesco and Smyths toys are now also selling the 6 figure packs and battle packs and the blind bags though The entertainer in my area is not getting anymore stock in by looks of it all they have left is one Pyramid.

I think it's a store display, although the auction was very sparse on details. I only spotted it with about 2 hours to go too, so I almost missed it. All in, it cost me less than $30, so I was pretty happy!

I'm in the same boat as you Acidonia, I only have four of the Antimatter leaders. I still need the Anti-Carbonium and Anti-Xenon tribes, then after that all I'll be lacking is that seventh anti-matter soldier, at least so far as any of them exist. Ironically, I have the prone anti-Carbon guy in my store display.

My local branch of the Entertainer also has just one pyramid left too. I hope more stores get these soon otherwise I can see this line disappearing as quickly and suddenly as it appeared.

To "complete" series 1, I still need any variants that come with playset, plus (insofar as any of them exist) the prone anti-matter soldiers.

There's also second series available in Italy, Atomicron Air Force, which seems even cooler than this one. I doubt we will get that here though.
