So I know I am probably in the minority here... And the Wii U hasn't exactly been climbing the sales chart, but I love my system. I'm picking up Mario Kart 8 this weekend!!! I was wondering if anyone else out there is planning on picking it up or maybe has already?

I keep telling my wife she's gonna have w/ it too when we get it lol... We shall see. We will get it this weekend, but I probably won't get a chance to play it until Monday or Tuesday. Weekends are always nuts for us with work.

I've enjoyed the little I've played of MK8 immensely. Such a gorgeous looking game too. Just don't have enough time to myself to play it whenever I want.

Looking forward to grabbing Mario Kart once I have enough funds to get a Wii U. 

FYI...you can grab MK 8 at Target right now for about $37 out the door.  Have them price match the current Amazon $48 price then preorder Smash Bros to get an additional $15 off any game, applying it toward MK 8.  And you can also snag a free game from Nintendo by registering MK before 7/31.

When you had them price match at Target... Did you pull up the amazon ad on ur phone? I've only done a price match with a paper ad before... How does it work with a website?

Problem with Smash is that it won't be available until the winter!!! And I TOTALLY think it's a bad strategy on Nintendo's part to release it on The 3DS first and then months later on the WII U... That's NOT the way to save an ailing system.

I have to admit though... I'm like the only Nintendo fan in the world that could never really get into Smash Bros. I've tried... Just not my thing I guess. But all the announcements about the upcoming one look GREAT!

I think the only reason why I like smash is because I am the best at it out of all my friends. When we first played melee, I dominated with samus and I never played before so I loved it ever since. I got this crazy luck with her blast and I tended to hit people accidently from accross the screen. I am actually excited because it doesn't seem as stale as most fighters (mk, sf, etc. etc) after playing it for years lol plus I use it to piss people off. Got smacked by a former gf because I did a terrible smash bros combo on her in melee. Samus-> toss bat at samus (her) -> bat hits samus and bounces back -> grabbed bat mid air (z grab) -> landed on ground -> home run smack as soon as contact with ground was established. She literally paused the game and smacked the crap out of me lol it was worth it complete lol

Yep, just pull up the amazon listing on your phone. You have to do it with guest services at target. I've enjoyed smash since the N64. I guess you could cancel your preorder down the road if you decide not to get it.

I think getting the 3ds version out first is wise, mainly that way Nintendo won't be competing with themselves. I think people might be more likely to pick up both versions this way. I've only got the 3ds system for now so releasing that first is preferable for me. They will still make a boat load off the Wii U version releasing it around the holidays.

Nerdiest- after reading your last post I can't imagine why your fiancé is skeptical about getting the game. I will say that I am very tempted to get it despite not being in love w it in the past... Just to give it another shot yknow?

And right now above all else the WII U needs the type of game that will help it sell systems. But your right they are gonna sell a shitload either way.

Hahaha it was worth it. I am pretty sure I will get it. I do want to get Mario Kart, that, and a few other titles. I just wish they would make Mario games not be so tedious and difficult like Mario Brothers Wii. I felt like I was playing Megaman when I played that game.

I'll drop my username in here when I check the Wii U and remember. My wife's also. She loves to play online with people and she is actually pretty good at the game. It'll be better to play with people I partially know than complete strangers.

I never really got into the smash brothers games. Did play the N64 version a lot back when I worked at a children's mental institution. They loved that game there and for a while we held monthly tournaments (for the kids, not the staff, I swear ) 

 

And I don't think I knew that places would price match amazon. Are there any other major retailers that will do this, other than Target? I think Walmart offers price matching but unsure if they accept online ads.

I used to love Killer Instinct so much. Falling from buildings is the best death ever. I wish the wii U could use Gamecube controllers lol the style in play is so different on a wii remote. It becomes sloppy. GC controllers make you react faster lol or at least for certain characters *cough* Samus *cough*

All major stores recognize amazon as a valid PM option now. I've done it successfully at Walmart as well. They probably realized the sales they were missing out on with amazon routinely matching other stores for movies/games.

Yeah you can use the GameCube controllers... I heard about the adapter that TamRnet shared a link to a couple weeks ago. But I didn't think it was released yet.

That's why I was surprised on the Conan video I posted that he was using the game cube controllers!

Bach - I had never heard of the Xband before... Just read the wiki page. Sounds awesome! Way before it's time. Very cool.
