George at October Toys seems to think that wave 5 has been tooled. Jakks has sent me emails that the line is not dead. But it all makes me wonder. Do any of you have experience with detailed predictions of releases of a toy line and then having that toy line terminated?

I wasn't surprised when the March pre-order stuff got pushed to April, but it's annoying. They are on wave 5. Why is Jakks still missing the estimated release dates that they give to distributors?

Just as long as I get to finish the collection on the poster! The Ventura/Predator survivor is my favorite design.
Yes definitely looking towards that figure too.

I actually work at Entertainment Earth (my day job) and put those listings up, but right now we won't know what will and won't make it out until our orders are deep-sixed. The names came straight from Jakks and I really hope I get to find out what the heck some of these guys look like. We haven't had any shipping updates on these guys just yet, sadly, but we hope to have it soon.

Just the other day I was talking with someone about some of the Kong dinosaurs from a few years ago which the company said were released and, well, weren't.
The Playmates Kong line? I don't recall any particular missing figures in the lineup, but I didn't follow it closely because I hated most of the toys. What figures never got released?

Experiences with detailed but terminated toy lines? Tons. Just the other day I was talking with someone about some of the Kong dinosaurs from a few years ago which the company said were released and, well, weren't. And sometimes stuff just gets dumped overseas without making it to the USA. I uh... will have to wait to talk about if wave 5 is tooled or not. *coughs*

Thanks for the post and the update! I guess I don't understand the company's marketing tactics. I suppose passionate collectors are not what drive their profits so they probably don't really care about the relatively few people who REALLY take an interest in the line. A company like Jakks probably makes all of its decisions by the numbers. However, why they would set up their customer care units to say a product is being released when it is not being released is beyond me. I don't see how that drives their business in a positive way?
I work in IT for a Fortune 100 company and we are very careful not to misrepresent our plans for a product or service.
Anyway, thanks again. I've got my orders in at EE, hopefully we'll be doing business in the future.
