Mysterious Korean (Most Likely Japanese) Anime PVC Figures

Best Answer BaltanII , 23 April 2015 - 03:20 PM

The artwork on the first figures looks to actually be based on Centurions. Those toys, those abominations... not so much.

Not ringing any bells on the second set, and the figures themselves aren't easy to make out. The title's possibly meant to evoke Captain Harlock, but of course nothing about the character seems to match up besides the hair color.

More stuff from the lot that never ends. I'll translate the titles to English, but the names often never correspond with what they actually are.

1. 3 Space Musketeers - 1989 - PVC - 9cm

2. Space Pirate Psycho - NO YEAR MARKING - PVC - 3cm

Japanese animation has always been huge here, so there is a high/almost definite chance that these are actually from Japanese shows. If not, they are probably Korean copies of some sort of famous Japanese show haha.

Any help towards IDing these would be fantastic.

So rather than identify the toys, you would like to pinpoint the origin of the bootleg?

Not entirely sure..
However, i do know one thing.
If I ever made a movie..
The title would definitely without question be: SPACE PIRATE PSYCHO

With a name like that the movie would write itself.

Hahaha I love the titles of some of these things. The names very rarely graciously translate to English.

I tried my best to gather some info from the box, but all I could find was a year on one of them and the material.

Koreans didn't really keep databases of this stuff back then. Nostalgia and collecting having only semi recently become a big thing here.

I second the notion that the first figures, the "space musketeers" are bootleg Centurions. Here is a goofy photo I found online in case you are not familiar with the toy line.

I think #1 is solved then! Thanks guys. What do yall think about #2 being from the anime Cobra/Space Cobra. His weapon is the Psychogun and the characters don't match up exactly, but it could just be a horrible horrible Korean knock off.

Yeah, I could see some kind of oddball inspiration, given the last part of the series name. I dismissed it when writing my last reply but I forgot about the Psychogun's name.
