80's toy mystery (to me anyways...)

Best Answer bachamn , 10 April 2015 - 05:59 AM

This is something I know I had as a kid in the 80's...it was brown plastic, hollow, and opened up kind of like an easter egg or something. It looks like an alien pod/creature....I found one in a lot on ebay but I didn't win it so I am still completely in the dark about this toy. It is on the far upper right corner above the T-Rex. Any info would be great because I remember just loving this thing...

That is amazing! So much cooler than I could have imagined. As soon as I saw that card I was shot back in time like 20 years or so. Man I loved that toy. Must find one now. Thanks man!

more like 30 years, 20 years ago was 1995 :D

I actually picked up mine from a flea market in the 90's. had no idea exactly what it was until recently. I'd like to get a carded one eventually, or at least the figs that came with the set. the little gold Gizmo in that pic is a bootleg of a bootleg that Nilla was selling a few years ago.

The same sculpts were released in Japan as regular rubber figures, and in 2 different sizes.

Holy crap I want those Japanese sculpts too...so freaking great. There are a few carded ones on ebay for reasonable...(the original toy, not the awesome rubber ones)...I love your custom Gizmo too!....and yes, I typo'ed on the 2...fell short about ten years in my time traveling!

Thanks to this thread, I knew what this was from today when I picked it up out of a bin at a warehouse sale :D
There is a guy at the local flea market who has the taller figure, though I didn't know that that's what it was till this thread. It's in pretty bad shape, but I might as well get it, now that I know what it is ;)Attached File  image.jpg   205.66K   1 downloads

There is a guy that sells random stuff out of a warehouse just outside of the town I live in (there are a couple places like this around here), and I filled up a bucket full of toys, and this was one of them. I paid $20 for the entire bucket. Its the first time I've been to his place, but it won't be the last!

That sounds great...I love finding places/people like that...especially if they have an untapped plethora of vintage goodies to dig through. That is so awesome that you found Gizmo...and yes you most certainly must go back for Stripe as well! What else was in your bucket?

I picked up quite a few action figures - He Man, Ghostbusters, Voltron bad guys, a few GI Joes - a single MUSCLE, a single Battle Beast, and a few Deiner erasers, all of which were animals. It was a good haul :)
