Hey guys,

I have been working on designs and sculpts for a set of mini-figures over the past year or so in my spare time. I thought it was time to post them here and get some feedback. :)

BodyBrawlers_zps7042d52c.jpg

They started out as OMFG submissions, but I really liked how they went together as a set, and I had a backstory for them right from the start. The line is called Body Brawlers, and each figure is inspired by a part of the human body. I have two figures sculpted and painted in a draft version, and another two sketched out:

Kidney Stone
kidney_stone_zps75d541ed.jpg

Iron Lung
iron_lung_zpscd831b73.jpg

Heart of Darkness
heart_of_darkness_zps15cfb657.jpg

Gut Constrictor
gutconstrictor_zpsbd8eaa81.jpg

Here is their story:

His name was Mauro, and he was the greatest fighter the galaxy had ever seen. He had a strong heart, an iron will, and the guts to take on any challenger. He was a fan favorite to win the Galactic Fighting Tournament. But in the very first round, and in the very first battle, he was struck down by a warlock fighter named Nolistis. Just as the announcer was about to call the fight, Mauro's lifeless body rippled with new energy. The dark power that Nolistis had used against him had an unexpected side effect. The organs in Mauro's body sprang to life and were filled with his courageous spirit. The fight was allowed to continue, but Nolistis fled in fear from his twisted creations. Mauro’s organs pressed forward in the tournament as the Body Brawlers!

Ideally I would like to make a small run of these and put them up for sale. Based on what you have seen so far, would you be interested in owning a set of figures like this? Do you have any suggestions for me as I continue to work on these?

Very cool. I will buy a set. Heart of Darkness is one of my favorite OMFG submissions. I would probably buy a couple sets for my kids too depending on price, material, and if you produce enough of them. I think a small run would sell quickly.

Great job on the first two sculpts. Please keep us updated on these.

These are awesome!  The accordian style arms of Iron Lung might make him a little mold unfriendly, but I'm no expert in the field.

Thanks guys! If series 1 does well, my tentative plan for series 2 is a brain, liver, thyroid (look at a diagram of it - they look really cool!), and tongue.

WAAHH!

I have been wanting the heart of darkness since the first time i saw it submitted. I actually said something a few weeks ago about hoping to see it again. So glad you are pursuing the idea and making it a toy. I like pretty much all of those figures and would gladly buy a set made from anything besides hard resin. The story is great too and would make for some killer artwork to go along with it.

I was planning on making a comic to go with these. :)

Those are looking like they're turning out pretty fun!

If you don't mind my asking, what do you sculpt in, and are those originals, or casts?

They are digitally sculpted and 3D printed. But before making a final version I will be making a wax cast, smoothing it out, and making any final edits on there. :)

I actually really dig Kidney Stone. If they are done in PVC, and reasonably priced, I can totally see trying to own an army of that guy.

Very cool work here man. I love the concept! And Gut Constrictor's body terminates in a sphincter? That's what I call attention to detail

Across all of the places I posted these designs, Bowel Constrictor seemed to be the least favorite. I am going to set him aside for now, and possibly rework him in the future. What do you think of his replacement, Tongue Tied (or if I change up the names, Tung Tide)? It will be a challenge to sculpt the ropes in a way that makes him castable, but I think I can make it work if I keep them close to his body.

I like Tongue Tied...but just curious about how his legs will look.

Bummer about Gut Constrictor! I dug the concept...even though I tend to prefer humanoid figures...

It didn't seem like Tung Tide was a big hit, so I came up with two more designs. What do you guys think of these?

Oh man awesome concept. The name fits perfect. I dig this line.

Iron Lung and Hung O. Liver got my top picks.
