Hello,

I would just like to say hello to everyone here at these boards. I was refered to Godbeast off of another forum, and then Godbeast recommended me to this forum. I am glad to have a forum dedicated to Battle Beasts.

Anyways, I used to love Battle Beasts as a kid. I am now 22, but i got my first Battle Beast, and still my favorite, Delta Chameleon when I was 4 years old. I got a few 2 packs in the stores when they were out, but I moved and lost about half of them. I also moved from a busier town (Aurora IL) to a small farming town so I never really got ot go to the store and get any. The only way I was able to get them was going to carious garage sales around town during the summer. I got lucky and got two, Hardtop Tortoise and Grizzly Bear. For years, I have only ever had about 5 official battle beasts till I lost Tortoise. Other than that, I played with them and displayed them for about a good 14 years or so without ever getting any new ones.

As a kid I tried making customs but painting on armour on various little figures and animals trying to make some. I did have 4 that were pretty successful, well for a 8-10 year old kid atleast. One I took the Trashblastor from Trash Bag Bunch (anyone remember these?) and did him up a bit to make him into a frog type BB named Robo-Ribit. I also took a Super Scary Monster in my Pocket "Mad Gasser of Mattoon" dyed some armour onto his rubber using some ink. He became a sort of stink bug/beetle Battle Beast simply named Mad Gasser.

I just recently went to a toy show near me a few months ago and actually saw Battle Beasts there. They were pretty beat up with no weapons or stickers and the guy wanted 8-10 dollars each for them, they were all series 1 and 2. So I didn't get any, but it peaked my interest again in battle beasts. So I went rumaging through all my old toys and was able to find all of the ones I still had left from a few years ago, and one an auction just recently for pretty cheap. 10 bucks for 4 beasts including one laser beast (my first every). The auction was Kickback Kangaroo, Eager Beaver, Tangolin Pangolin and Rainbow Samu. I was thrilled. I also got a hold of the Godbeast, and he has been so much help to me to get started into collecting BB/LBs.

Right now I have:
Delta Chameleon
Sledgehammer Elephant
Pew-trid Skunk
Grizzly Bear
Kickback Kangaroo
Eager Beaver
Tangolin Pangolin
Rainbow Samu
and my 4 customs

Well, I just had a few questions for people here on the boards. Do any of you have any reccomendations for collecting battle beasts? I have very little right now, and not too much spending money each week so I am probably going to concentrate on teh early laser beasts and battle beasts.

Where do you find most of your battle beasts? I have been looking over Ebay, and trying to seach for other sites.

What is your personal favorite beast? Mine has to be Chameleon. He was my first, so that probably has a lot to due with it, but I like his pose. His pose always looked noble and strong yet quick, agile. As a kid, he was always the hero and leader of my tribe of battle beasts. I used to have Saber Sword Tiger and Tortoise, they were two of my favorites as a child as well. I think Blue Eagle will be one of my favorites once I get him. He looks so regal and noble, which I really like. I also love King Buster, Slag King and Dino Gator from the pics, but I know its going to be a really long time before I am able to find those three.

Do any of you make customs? I want to try making some kitbashed customs that look like real battle beasts. My old customs always worked, but they didn't look like actual battle beasts. I want to try and make a bunch of dinosaur ones. As a kid, I always thought they should have made a series of Dinosaur battle beasts, like a full 25 figure set with different dinosaurs. Especially with the dinosaur craze of the late 80s and early 90s. So maybe I will be able to make a few dinosaur ones.

To those of you who make customs, do you have any advice for making customs? I am decent at kitbashing stuff and painting. I played warhammer for several years for those who know the game, and was actually pretty good at customizing and painting them. I am terrible at sculpting though unfortunately.

Well, thanks for listening and replying if you took the time. Oh, and thanks again Godbeast for helping me out soo much.

Welcome Eric!

I am sooooooooooooo glad you came and are participating in the forum.

I throughly enjoy hearing other collectors stories, influences, how they collect, photos of their toy collections, customs, etc...

I find BB/LB's at toy shows, flea markets, antique malls, garage sales, ebay, etc...

My favorite BB is the Leapin' Lizard.

As everyone here knows...I make customs, molds, and cast uv resistent plastic reproductions. I LOVE to kitbash LB's like #113, #114, and #115.

Here are some tips. Stockpile crappy BB/LB, pieces and parts...try to stick with BB/LB for 80% of the figure...so it fits into the BB/LB continum. I use "Bondini" resin glue to connect parts, acrylic paints to paint, Krylon matte spray sealer to finish them.

I hope this helps.

Orca has done some excellent customs too!!! Go look in the custom section back a few months to see some of his great work!

Once again...WELCOME!

Eric-
Always a pleasure to meet a fellow collector. I havent been in the game that long either, maybe 2 years? I had a few myself but lost them between moves, along with my ewok village and castle greyskull. I didnt know they had this kind of following until i registered at littlerubberguys. Anyway, good luck with your collection, your in the right place...

"Strongest of the scions created by the gods, they feared his power, and so kept him confined to the dark. So indomitable is his strength that all things are by him twisted and pressed into oblivion. He alone fashions the laws governing all things, and administers punishment in place of the gods. So is he dark eternal, and his authority is absolute."
