Other than those two imported big figures I picked up from TK Maxx, I haven't seen anything Dinofroz here for a very long time.

I did see a few of the Dinofroz Spinrock figures in Spain but they are expensive, something like 8 euros for a small figure and a spinning top thing.

However I was inspired to check on eBay and found a nice cheap lot of Dinofroz in Italy on Buy It Now, so these are on their way to me  :)

I'd be interested in one of those smildon doubles if it is up for grabs, Stront!

Necromancy: Post Regeneration!

Dinofroz is now in North America thanks to Import Dragon... at least in Canada.

I got a couple of figures today! I have no idea what Dinofroz is about (saw it on the TV schedule, saw the toys for the first time today) but I really like the minifigures.

Quebec. I bought the blind bags from a gaming store's booth at a local convention, but I saw the bigger figures at Toys 'R' Us today as well. Import Dragon HQ is in the province so that might be faster? The blind bags come with a card for the 'card game' (I'm being generous here calling it a card game)... so try the kind of places that would sell stuff like trading card game boosters.

The blind bags have 16 different models.

Also there's a website, dinofroz.ca.... And they have an online shop!

Here's the blind bags.

First Gormiti, then Dinofroz - why on earth do these toylines become underwhelming once a cartoon's introduced, compared to the older sculpts?! I got so excited reading the start of Undrave's bump, and then I kept reading and looked into the site...  -_- Also, AGAIN WITH THE DRAGONS, but that's a personal problem. And that's been an element of Dinofroz for a bit now, their way of having some kind of distinct villains.

I kind of agree, that having a cartoon seems to neuter really awesome toylines. They kind of lost the visceral quality that made me love the pre-toon figures. I still cherish the DF that have already, though. Not all of the new figures are bunk, but they don't exactly pop next to the old ones.

Cartoon style is always going to trend in that direction because the realities of animation mean simpler (ie less interesting) characters. With that said, I think everything Dinofroz is excellent.

They are still leagues more interesting than most of the other stuff out there... But it's hard to compare the new stuff to the original stuff.

Yeah, I don't want to give the impression that I hate this series of figures, but when I saw their mammoth was "just" a green mammoth and nothing like the amazing six-tusked elephant in Combact, I knew to downplay my expectations. Also, for as imaginative as the Dinofroz get, even in this line, all the dragons are so boring!

I should reconsider looking into World and Combact sculpts again.

I agree that this batch is less cooler than the previous ones, but I'm glad to see it anywhere other than Europe for once.

Does this specific series have a name outside of "Dinofroz?" I am trying to see other sculpts in the line but not having much luck. (And even if I did, I might not be able to tell.)

I got a few more today... ended up with mostly dragons, including a repeat, and two mammoth guys, but that's the name of the game with blind bags.

Yeah he's pretty cool. The yellow paint is a bit thin on the dark blue plastic, but at the same time it highlights the sculpted detail and gives it a sort of faux-shadowing effect. There's not a single smooth surface on these guys, they have tiny fur lines and scale ridges all over. Vlad's wing stripes have molded lines and he has molded, unpainted, ones on the reverse of the wings.

Though personally the favorites of the one I got are the mammalians, even if the mammoth feels simple he has a nice sturdy feel to him.

8A56DA7B-6F5B-4D6E-9550-D7C22F98A634_zps

Wish I could hae gotten the triceratop dude in one form or another, he looks pretty nifty. Maybe I'll buy more at some point in the future.

I'm really 50/50 on that smilodon, but it's just so nice to have a figure for one!

If I manage to find any of these things, we can do some trades if I get some doubles!

Really different styling. The proportions were a lot goofier back then it seems. The general spikyness is still there but there's less giant heads now.

The old style is what first grabbed my attention with this line! Like others, I'm not a huge fan of the new styles. (rabble rabble get off'a my lawn!)

But I do think this series has a lot of strong figures with it.
