When I saw WhiteLeo's translation of the Japanese BeastFormer cards, http://www.beastform...es/series1.htm, I was amazed at how much depth was written into each character bio.  With details as specific as fighting style, personality traits, and  family lineage I felt like there needed to be one massive overarching story that gave these rich creatures a world to live in.

The English speaking fan base has had only fragmented glimpses of what the Battle Beast Universe is.  I wanted to not only define the Battle Beast Universe, but make a story that is congruent with what little we know about our favorite childhood toy line.  My Odyssey would incorporate all of the rich character detail of the card translations, the Transformer tie in, the Battle Beast Annual events, the fire, water, wood combat element, the variant figures such as Crystal Carp, Stone Cobra, Ghost Alligatron, and Sun Burst White Leo, God Beasts, Laser Beast, Battle Chariots, Tactical Bases, even bandoliers!

In addition, I wanted to deal with big ideas of environmentalism, loyalty, spirituality and faith. Below, you'll find my synopsis which is merely an overview.  The greater supporting plot lines and details are yet to be revealed.  I've drafted outlines of each of the five story arcs which I hope to one day soon develop into a 25 issue web comic.  Your moral support could help me make the time for the project.

Thanks, and enjoy!

Battle Beasts – Synopsis

Preface: Beast Planet is an ancient engineered planet in a far corner of the Transformers universe. A generator at the planet's core converts solar energy to spirit powers of Water, Wood, and Fire which fuel its environmental functions. The planet is populated by Beast Nations of anthropomorphised intelligent animal species. They live in a medieval society with their only knowledge of the history and workings of Beast Planet told through the mythology of an age old religion. The Beast Nations are in the midst of a cultural renaissance, where the collective consciousness is less on a past religion and more on present prosperity and development. This has caused a dangerous disconnect between Beast Planet and its inhabitants.

Each arc plays out over five web comics.

  1. Beast Planet - Settings: Beast Planet Capital, Swamp, God Beast Palace

    1. Acts of deceit and treachery shift the elemental balance on Beast Planet and seed war between light and dark forces.   Powers of fire, wood, and water collide in a battle that will determine the fate of all beast nations.
      • White Leo, captain of small maritime militaristic band. Blood relation to royal family.

      • Alligatron, born into lineage of willful and loyal servants to the ruling Leo family, though personally despises them and dreams of revenge.

      • A damaged Megatron crashes on Beast Planet and convinces Alligatron to seek spirit powers held by three God Beasts who control the flow of power on Beast Planet. With that Power, Alligatron and Megatron can control Beast Planet together under Dark Beast and Decepticon rule.

      • Alligatron gains spirit power and ability to empower other beasts

      • Alligatron single-handedly overthrows ruling class, sends nation into chaos.

      • Optimus Prime and Autobots land on Beast Planet in pursuit of Megatron.

      • Optimus Tells Leo and Deer Stalker to go to God Beast palace for spirit power while Autobots guard city and search for Megatron.

      • Leo and Deer Stalker return with spirit powers and empowering abilities, lead Autobots to Alligatron and Megatron.

      • Damaged and outnumbered, Megatron flees into space. Autobots pursue.

      • Optimus stays to help Light Beasts battle Alligatron and newly recruited Dark Beasts. Tells them how to match their spirit powers advantageously against opponents (Water beats Fire, Fire beats wood, etc).

      • Battle ends with Dark Beasts retreat after a trader deceives and cripples the Light Beasts.

      • Optimus warns of coming turmoil, vows to return one day to help restore balance.

  1. Beast War - Settings: Beast Planet Capital, Wilderness

    1. Light Beasts grow in numbers and fighting ability while they defend the capital from Dark Beast attacks. Can White Leo and the Light Beasts overcome the stealth and cunning of the Dark Beasts and stop Alligatron's evil plan to hold all beast nations at his mercy?

  2. Beast Code - Setting: Battle Realm

    1. Alligatron has sent Beast Planet on an irreversible course for destruction. The God Beasts are none too happy and present the Battle Beasts with a choice: kill or be killed.

  3. God Beasts - Setting: Battle Realm, God Beast Palace

    1. White Leo, armed with a new higher power, confronts the God Beasts. Can he force the one time protectors of Beast Planet to answer for their crimes against it?

  4. Laser Beasts - Setting: God Beast Palace, Beast Planet Capital, Wilderness

    1. A group of the most powerful opponents the Battle Beasts have ever faced stand between them and the total restoration of galactic balance.

We support any and all fan based initiatives related to or with the intention of reviving the Beasts so please do your thing as you´ll have our moral support for sure.

If there´s anything else we might be able to help you out with just ask as there´s more than enough knowledge around to answer most of your questions related to the Beasts.

So If I understand it correctly your planning to release 5 digital comics based on the information we´ve been able to translate from the Japanese info we´ve had to give the US/EN based fans a more contained story right? Are you planning to stick to the exact character bio´s and come up with a story around it yourself or will you also adjust the character bio´s according to your story? Think it would be great when you can stay as close as possible to the original intended characters and included these into the story.

Anyway whatever way you´ll take it I´m pretty sure you´ll only find support here so good luck and keep us up to date about it.

Enjoy the Beasts!

Thanks for the encouragement, Beastformers! To answer your question, Yes! I plan to stick to the bios and existing story elements as faithfully as possible. The story I've outlined takes place over five story arcs of five web comics each (arcs numbered with titles bolded above). That's a total of 25 web comics. All Series One beasts will appear in arcs one and two. By the end of arc 5, we will have seen all three series of Battle Beasts plus a few varients and all US and Japanese Laser Beasts!

I'm treating everything printed about Battle Beasts on card backs and promotional material as cannon. I started with the card translations and incorporated the Battle Beast Annual battle scenarios and the Transformers Headmasters story. I'll also use the Beast Planet map that is on the forum. Any other big existing pieces of story out there that I'm missing?

Thanks!

I assume your pointing at the large vinyl play map/mat with the Beast Planet Map?

If not that might be another piece which might be interesting to look into.

I like the sounds of this, especially since you plan to follow the existing cannon and not get all crazy with it before changing your mind and saying it never was intended to have any connection to the original

*cough* IDW *cough*

;)

With regards to story line that isn't included in the books or cards, the fold-out pamphlets that came with the Japanese boxed beasts have a few different stories included on them, though I don't think we have fully translated versions of them up on the boards anywhere. I scanned and posted the originals a while back, but that's all I'm aware of. There's also the stories about Clear Carp, Clear Gator, Sunburst Leo/Stone Cobra/Pheonix Base to consider, though some of this info I believe is also on some specific bio cards.

and yeah there's a translated version of the playmat floating around here that WhiteLeo did back in the day. (assuming this is what you were referencing)
