Something doesn't seem right. After years of collecting suddenly 2 come to light so quickly!!! Bet another turns up in 3 months now

Well, MIMP collecting is a very small group of collectors really so not a lot of people are looking for them. I know Frank owns the first legit on that was found and he is an upstanding, honest guy.

Me finding mine is mere chance, if I wasn't at my mums empting my old toy cupboard with my son I would never of found my MimP and if I had not wanted the complete set for my son I would not of found out about how speacial a star Jotun was.
To be honest I thought they were common seeing as I got two of them as a kid
And if you are still doubting there is a site out there that shows

It's also been pointed out on Facebook that the 'fake' has the slight indent of what looks to be a trial run of making the star impression, before actually going ahead and making it. I ran the pic through a structure enhance using Instagram pic editor and it's even more clear. Make of that what you will...
(Note these are not my pics)

The star being recreated:

recreating the star only took me 5 minutes to do. I'm glad more JT's are turning up.

It's still ridiculously exciting  :D

What was the prize you got for sending it off? That's if you can remember...

And yes I would keep it if I was a collector, but I am not. I have had no offers on it but I would be willing to sell it to the right person for it to be truly appreciated. As you put it, it is The holy relic of MIMP it belongs with a collector.

Just because he says on this message..

I see where he mentions SELLING it, I do not see him saying he will GIVE this figure away.

Well, there is it.  The typeface is the same on the ordinary one as the homemade star.

That is an amazing find and quite an exciting thing around here.  When you hold it and look at it does it seem special or does it just seem like another figure with a slight variation?  I am truly curious.  I would love to find something like this, and I always wonder about how exciting it would feel.

Also, are you considering selling it?  Have you been getting offers?  I am not in that market at all, just to be clear.  I just wonder if I came across something so cool, what I would do.  Would I be able to resist not selling it?  Or would just owning it feel so powerful that I would have to keep it.

A guy around here recently came across a purple MUSCLE Claw, which is another one of those holy grails, and he told us that he was going to keep it.  I enjoyed reading his take on why that was his decision.

Happy New Year and thanks for sharing!

Nice catch, Rotters. I was still open to both variations being legit until confirmation of this comparison was made. Evidence is certainly mounting that the first Star Monster was a fake. I don't exactly remember who the original seller was but I'm pretty sure he hasn't commented on this thread. I'd be interested to hear his thoughts now.

His name was Nik, or Nick, and I haven't seen him since his crazy MIMP grab bag sale and "star" troll auction.

The dude made out like a bandit.

Great find PapaTez! I live in Melbourne and as a kid I would buy MIMP from target & Kmart.
I remember buying the standard 4-packs on regular colours & secret 12-packs in regular colours also, but never saw secret 12-pack neon figures. I only saw the big carded 24 packs in neons, which were way expensive.
Spins me out that you pulled a neon from a regular 12-pack!

Needless to say if you ever list it for sale here, I'd be interested in bidding/buying!

maybe not as rare as once thought :)

I've had this Star Jotun Troll since the early nineties, I think it came from one of the twelve packs which I got as a birthday present. I think it came from Woolworths or Argos in Dereham in the UK. Here are some pictures of it:

How far we've come from such early days of speculation!
