The summer doldrums are over, and we're back in the swing of things when it comes to toy production. First off...AshuraShine: there's a bunch of folks still waiting patiently for a figure shot in traditional pink rubber. I kinda feel bad for leaving y'all in the lurch for the past couple months, so I'm going to offer you guys a special shot at one of the many random multi-colored figures I currently have:
These guys are ready to ship now, so you can opt for one of these rares, or continue to wait for a traditional pink one (yes, more pinkies are being made as I type this...but they probably won't be in-hand for a few weeks or so).
...
Next, regarding Spinning Head Sunshine and Spinshine, here's the deal: the list above is NO GOOD! I hate to make y'all jump through hoops, but the priority list is being hosted on MUSCLEThings.com. Alec is the wizard behind the curtain, and he's been awesome enough to give my meager offerings a sub-board over there. So from now on, lists for all of our collaborations will be posted on MT.
Please head over there, sign up for an account if ya don't have one, and put your name on the list! Don't worry: just like AshuraShine, I don't intend for these to be limited, so even if you don't feel like signing up over there, I'll most definitely offer them here (as well as on other boards) once the MT list has been taken care of. So posting on MT just gets you the toy faster!
And...if I do say so myself...it's worth it:

Well, in case you didn't see on my blog, I've gotten a shipment of pink AshuraShines. Should be enough for everyone! I'll be catching up with things and contacting people this weekend...
Anyway, I wanted to resurrect this thread to bring up something new and cool: solid metal AshuraShines! Again, these are discussed in more detail in my latest blog post, but to summarize, I can get these gold-plated stainless steel AshuraShine figures made for about $85:
They look pretty crazy, but the real joy in having this guy in-hand is the weight. It's SOLID steel. I've dropped mine a few times--not a damn scratch on it...and whatever it lands on suffers.
If anyone's interested, speak up. Like I said, it's no big deal to get these made. Just a few clicks away on Shapeways. If there's enough interest, I'd be happy to tweak the design to make it look a little nicer in this medium.
...
And...for the real hardcore ballers, there's an even higher-end option. *I* don't even have one of these (since I don't have a couple hundred bucks to fling at any 3D printing whim!), but from another print company called i.materialise does lost-wax brass castings of 3D prints they make. They're friggin' ASTOUNDING. I have one of my MUSCLE-sized "Gin Gin" character (again, peep my blog for more details):
He was just over $100 (yikes!)...but as you can see, the surface finish is FAR nicer than Shapeways' gold-plated stainless:
(gold-plated stainless from Shapeways on the left; brass casting from i.materialise on the right)
Unfortunately, because AshuraShine is so much more massive than Gin Gin (and most other MUSCLEs!), he's gonna end up costing about $200 in brass.
I figure if anyone is interested in either of these metal options, I'd be happy to order the figures to be made for them. If someone wants brass, gods bless your soul! LOL When it arrives, I'll take plenty of pics just to show folks how nice it really is (and to satiate my own curiosity, of course!).
Lemme know what y'all think!

How does the steel version look without gold plating?

I just weighed that stainless AshuraShine on our office postal scale: 2.3 ounces!! That's pretty damn nuts!
Plastic, I never ordered an AshuraShine in non-plated stainless. I mean, why would I? He's supposed to be gold, damnit! I've gotten other dudes done without plating, though. It's interesting: the printing process used involves heavy bronze-infusion, so the prints look a lot more brown than "typical" stainless steels we're used to seeing in the consumer market. Here are some pics:

Also, I've received the first big batch of Spinning Head Sunshine sets. PMs have gone out via musclethings.com, so if you've signed up for one, head over there and check your inbox. Thanks, everyone!

The good news is that you won't have to pay double-shipping if you want a high-end metal AshuraShine. In other words, I don't have to order the damn thing for you, have it shipped to me, THEN finally drop back in the mail to send to you! You just buy the thing like any other commercial website. Pretty slick.
What's also kinda neat is that you actually have a couple more material options. You can get it in that sorta bronze-toned (unplated) stainless steel pictured above for a couple bucks less...and there's also a polished "antique bronze" finish that I've never actually seen in person (but looks kinda fresh). Oh, and they ALSO offered the figure in polished friggin' silver for a cool two bills! Yikes! For real-for real, if someone with the cojones throws down for one of these silver joints, PLEASE post pics! I'd love to see how it looks!
But frankly, I think the brass castings from i.materialise would be the absolute best. Tight detail and surface finish...AND it'll be gold...like Sunshine's supposed to be. I'll see if I can figure out their user-store UI to prevent the double-shipping thing again...
