How hard is it to find this one? How often is one available? What would you say one is worth?

Hmm I´d have expected a reply here by now but since that´s not the case I´ll share my thoughts/experience about this Full Shell version of the Hardtop Tortoise.

Like the Round Tail Rabbit the Full Shell Tortoise is one of the figs within the Battle Beasts line that has the sneaky skill to pass by almost unnoticeable meaning it comes from or ends up in the hands of a collector who´s not familiar with it simply because of most of the figures for sale are only pictured from the front meaning it´s impossible to tell whether the figure might be a Full Shell or Round Tail version. Most of those figs often show up within larger lots and eventually they are noticed sooner or later. A couple of years back those figs seemed to be more present or at least the did show up once in a while but the past year and period it has become pretty hard to find these figures. Which is not so weird because probably only a very small % of all the Rabbits and Tortoises (only using these as an example now but this goes for most harder to find ¨variants¨) actually has a Round Tail or a Full Shell.

For a long period I didn´t even have one myself simply because I thought I´d bump into one sooner or later anyway knowing the amounts of Beasts I´ve had in and out but since it started to take longer and longer and the ones that did show up where already sold before I´d a shot at it I took my chance earlier this year and paid around $35-40 for it...... Probably a bit to much but it shows that these are not very common and in most cases the chances of getting one are already passed since its bought by someone else who´s looking for it.

If you´re lucky you might bump into one in larger lots meaning you might be able to get one for a really good price, this was what I always hoped and waited for but this has proven to be quite a lucky shot because of the limited amount of these out there. The reason for that probably has to be found in the fact that these figs were produced in other molds being released with either a chariot package or a production run for another smaller country most likely in Europe. So far I still haven´t been able to get my hands on the true origin of these figs although there are a couple of links guiding in a certain direction. But so far even with that info I was unable to get one so think that says enough.

When you want you´ll either have to gamble on purchasing larger lots in the hope to find one someday which will most likely be a tough call BUT if it works out and you are lucky enough to bump into one its probably only for a fraction of the price it goes for these days because it rarely shows up out in the open mainly because it gets sold amongst collectors behind the scenes. Price wise I think the price I paid and mentioned earlier is probably not to far of of the actual value for one these days, of course condition also plays a role and the one I got was in good condition, but this only works IF you can find one.....

Amongst the BB ¨variants¨ there are a couple harder to find ones which might only show up once a year or even less and the Full Shell Tortoise definitely seems to be one of the tougher to find ones which is also due to the fact that the small amount of full shells that are out there might even remain unnoticed.

Good luck with the hunt!

Great reply. Thanx. I also thought there would be more opinions on this. I do have one. But he'll be staying where he is.
