Well I guess that settles it. My camera is currently dead, so I will take photos and post when I get to work in the afternoon. Look for it about noon.

i would totally wait if i were you. it wouldn't be a comicon without handful of heroes. besides, there may be something there that you absolutely can't live without and you just spent crazy money on handfuls and you are now short on dollaridoos. play it safe bruthaman. there'll be handfuls around for a while.

Here are the belated pics of the HOH poster. I am too lazy to edit them back together.

Thanks for the review. Very helpful. I've had my eyes peeled lately too. But nuthin yet here in the Midwest....
I'm glad there are no bases on em. Except Beast. He was upside down and I think he needed one for that position. What's the balance on these? Sometimes minifigs that are slim (especially in the legs) tip easily. Also, relating to the "what if" DC line, I found a crank (money) machine at a Wal-Mart with Batman minifigs based on the latest incarnation. I has about 6 different poses. They are nice figs with a touch of paint apps. Annoyingly, though, they all have bases.

You know that Angel has a base too, right? I don't have him, so I can't take a picture of him, now can I? Look at the second picture and you'll see what I mean. In the far right, you'll see Angel between Sabretooth and Classic Wolverine.

Yep, you're right. I noticed that right after posting. I bet those wings make him awfully top heavy therefore requiring the base.

Although the package quite loudly touts "collect all 120 figures!", there are actually only 40 characters in the set. Each figure comes in 3 colors. However there are more than three colors, so you apparently can't put together complete matching color sets. The basic colors are: yellow, blue, green, red and black. Each color group consists of solid, clear and clear with glitter. The only exception seems to be the deep blood red color. It appears to only come in clear.

New here, but I've been doing some research on this line for the Wiki, and after looking at your figures against the large poster showing all the figures available, I don't think they come in 3 colors each. Hasbro isn't wording it correctly, so it's a little misleading.

When they say each sculpt comes in 3 colors, I think it means each figure comes in 3 finishes: solid, clear, and clear with glitter.

Your Thing is solid, while the one on the poster is clear with glitter. But both are orange.

And you have two Dr. Dooms, one is solid and one is clear with glitter. Both are the darker green.

So I doubt you'd have one solid green, one glitter green, and then a blue. It looks like each figure comes in one color, but 3 finishes.

http://therumorbuste...s_checklist.jpg

I think the colors are more varied too, especially when you look at the checklist:

Light blue, dark green, black, yellow (might be an orange too -- hard to tell), light green, light red, dark blue, dark red.

thanks for the info, scan/link and theory. i'm willing to bet that you're correct. it would make sense to keep characters like the hulk in "shades" of green. if this is indeed the case, i may end up only getting a set of solids.

also, welcome to the board! always great to have new blood around here, especially those willing to contribute.

Thanks!

Yeah, looking at other promotional pictures around the net, I've yet to see a single figure in a color other than on the poster, but I have seen different finishes.

Which is better, I think, than having it be 3 random colors if there's more than 3 colors in the line. That way you can at least complete a set of solids, clears, or clear with glitter.

It's worth noting too, that on the back of the package, there's an Onslaught sculpt in a clear yellow/orange. It's the only sculpt on the back (unless I'm missing one) that isn't on the checklist poster. So I wonder if it's part of a second wave or if it's a super rare figure in this wave.

i would love to think that there'll be a wave 2. does the back of the packaging list the sculpt as onslaught? and have you found a pic/scan of the back card? don't know if i'm all that keen on more super-rares. since marvel says there's 120 of 40 unique sculpts we'll assume that the onslaught character is from a second wave or at least from a pool of proposed characters (prototype?). then again, just because marvel has something printed on the package doesn't make it true. for all we know the 120 may just be a "guideline". after all, these are the same people who green lighted a daredevil product with the spelling "darevil".

hmmm. are there two onslaughts on the back there? the one just above the first one in the same color with just a little more light passing through it? can't tell for certain. anyway, looks like a similar color to sabretooth and thing for the crystal rendering. we've seen in the past where a company will take promo shots of what ever they've got on hand, but some of the prototypes may be mixed up in there that didn't make the final cut. who knows?

I just checked out a Hasbro site and it says Handful of Heroes is scheduled for a Fall 2009 release. Just FYI.
Maybe that's old news. But it was new to me. Maybe they are backing up the release again.

i'm even more convinced now that zerovgm is correct. all the figures we've seen match up with the colors on the insert and packaging.

For the most part, that's how it looks, with just two exceptions based on Eric's pictures.

There's a Gladiator Hulk in solid blue instead of green, but otherwise the basic colors seem to match. If there's any other differences, they're more subtle.

Also, we've got a totally new figure - a yellow Hulk with his arms raised, about to smash something good.

I love Youtube...who needs to go to the con when there is always someone willing to record it for you. :p

A blurb about Handful of Heroes during the Hasbro Marvel Panel. Listen very carefully to what they say. ;) It makes me feel like they made these just for us. :) I had my doubts about supporting this line, especially with the other crazy awesome 3 3/4" lines hitting next year....I'm gonna be one broke Mutha.

I just picked up a couple packs today, they're pretty cool little guys. I've never liked the blindbox method (always passed on HeroClix) but at least I can see most of what I'm getting... they are pretty pricey at ~$1/visible figure, though.

by the way, there are more than just the 40 sculpts/3 colors; I passed over a gold Spidey and picked up a silver "classic" Wolverine.

Yeah, the gold & silver fig's are pretty uncommon, but they've been spotted around (I myself have 7 of the 8 available). It appears that all 8 figures from the fourth row on the checklist were made; this row includes the Ironma, Spiderman and Wolverine sculpts. The red guys got turned into gold versions, and the blue guys silver. Recently, it was noted that this fourth row doesn't exist in glitter versions, just solid, clear & metallic. So, it seems that there are only 120 variations after all!

That's interesting to know because my collection is stuck on not having the glitter versions of both Iron Mans, all 3 Spideys, and I think all the Wolvies. Cap America also has a silver variant.
