Looks pretty much like what you would expect.  Who's excited about this movie?

I find it kind of hard to get excited about any movie with Ryan Reynolds in. However if it means that awful Wolverine movie is erased from the continuity, I'm all for it.

Yeah - Wolverine Origins was a sad state of affairs.  I actually think he would make a great Deadpool though.  I blame the "writers/directors" for his turn as Deadpool in the Wolverine film.  It's tough to blame him for that.  However, what I am assuming is now that everything has been pretty much retconned by the way of the Days Of Future Past that all that crazy Deadpool BS in Wolverine never happened.  Or at least my fingers are crossed.

I really wish they would attempt to have some type of continuity over there at 20th century fox...they just seem to casually stab in the dark with their movies.."oh, that didn't work...ok, let's reboot the franchise! Meet the all new (for the third time) Fantastic Four! This time it's a keeper...forget all that crap that came before." On a personal note, I always thought the Fantastic Four would be one of the easiest super hero comic books to translate into a good movie. I can't believe they just can't get it right. With the X-men, and thus also Wolverine, they are hit and miss with making the movies any good, and as before, they say F%#K All to the idea of continuity. Hey, it isn't our fault you felt the need to kill off super important characters too early Fox...that crap is on you. I think Ryan Reynolds will make the perfect Deadpool...I think the costume is spot on too. All that aside, I think the movie will suck. I will reserve judgement though until I see it.

Pretty well stated IMHO.  Time will tell I guess.  One thing to remember (and I can be equally frustrated with Fox too) that every major studio that has a Marvel property that ISN'T part of the MCU (Post Iron Man/ i.e. Disney-verse) is now attempting to take a page from the MCU and get their continuity in order.  Before the MCU - the idea of a massive cinematic continuity was basically unheard of.  SO I think in many ways, despite it's flaws, Days of Future Past was an attempt to right the continuity ship for Fox/X-Men so that they can do more sprawling cinematic and continuity based stories... thus more films and more solo films.  And inevitably setting up the FF to exist in the same universe as X-men.

So while in the past Fox has driven me eff'n nuts with the hit and miss nature of their Marvel movies... now that they are making a concentrated effort to be more like the MCU I am willing to not be so hard on them and give them the room to hopefully spread their wings in the right direction.  Of course I would rather them have the FF and X-Men exist in the greater MCU... but I suspect that won't happen any time soon.

Time will tell.

Lol... I know I'm going to sound like I'm a huge RR fan (which I'm not), but GL was destined for disaster before it even started filming.  First, I agree, it was a pretty bad casting choice.  More importantly, it was a shitty script and sub-par directing.  In fact - they supposedly started filming before a script was even finished (of course this also speaks volumes to RR's poor judgement, why take the part if you haven' even read a finished script.  And yet this sort of thing is done all the time in Hollywood).  GL was a hack rush job and was originally supposed to be the start of the launching of DC's broader cinematic universe.  Epic fail.

Eh... RR might not be the best choice, but I would love to hear other suggestions of witty-sarcastic-borderline assholes that can rattle off deadpan deliveries while sounding simultaneously smarter than everyone else in the room (all the while kicking' ass).

I'm not saying I'm pro-Sean lol... but I applaud the choice.  When I was trying to think of an actor that can pull of that level of sarcasm I genuinely couldn't think of anyone else besides RR.  He didn't even occur to me!!  What other actors am I missing that could fall into that category?  Anyone else guys?

This guy named several people:

1. Zachary Quinto

2. Jonathan Reese Myers

3. Jeremy Renner

4. Sam Worthington

5. Tom Hardy

Here are my thoughts...

1. Zachary Quinto - Woulda never thought if him!!!  Maybe!

2. Jonathan Reese Myers - No.

3. Jeremy Renner - I can't see it... he's got "asshole" down, but I don't know.

4. Sam Worthington - I like the guy.  I just don't see a Deadpool side to him.

5. Tom Hardy - Maybe.  He's a great actor... and he had a lot of that playful sarcastic side in the romcom he did with Chris Pine and Resse Witherspoon.

I think out of all of these, I kinda like the Zachary Quinto suggestion.  I also like him because while he has done quite a few high profile gigs... I don't think of him as much of a household name and it might be fun to start with someone w/ out celebrity or previous box office baggage.

Good list Steve!

I can dig Tom Hardy as an actor... check out Bronson if you haven't already. The rest of that Emergency Awesome list would make extremely un-impressive Deadpool candidates.

I will happily reside in the minority in thinking that Ryan Reynolds remains the best actor for the job.  Definitely.

I'm more concerned, if anything, of this trend of putting TJ Miller in films. Uhg.  He's playing Weasel in the Deadpool movie.

What of Paul Rudd as Ant-Man?  What do y'all think of that?

Hey - I haven't watched this yet because my FLASH isn't working, but I thought you guys might want to.

Steve,

I'm in the minority with you... I still think RR is the best for the role.  However, I am open to hearing other ideas.  Folks are thinking of people that I wouldn't have which is kinda cool!!

Fix your Flash player, man.  It's worth it.

Because the Deadpool costume photo is supposedly a parody of Burt's famous Cosmo spread, I had to look it up and see if they were related.  Could you imagine?  The greatest actor of our generation and the greatest actor of your daddy's generation RELATED?  But, alas, they are not.

Dream a little dream...
